fifteen years later

"mommy, mommy! what's daddy doing in the backyard?" drew ran into the kitchen, pointing towards our backyard with a small finger. his brown curls bounced as he hopped from one small leg to another, moving his hazel eyes from me to the back door.

"i don't know, sweetie! want to go find out?" i smiled down at him, unsure myself. he nodded eagerly as i wiped my hands dry with a hand towel.

"can you carry me?" he asked, giving me a goofy smile that showed his adorable dimples.

"i can't, drew. it might hurt your sister," i remarked, pointing at my belly. drew nodded sadly, but gladly took my hand in his as he led me towards the back door.

"i can't wait to play with sissy. she can join my band," he mumbled softly to himself, leading me outside. i smiled after him, placing a hand on my stomach.

i stepped carefully down the steps of our porch onto the grass. i gazed across the yard to find him pounding a hammer on a piece of wood.

"daddy the builder! can he fix it? daddy the builder! yes he can!" drew sung quietly under his breath. he tugged on my arm to get me to walk faster, but we both knew that wasn't about to happen.

drew eventually dropped my hand to run on his small legs to go talk to his father. "what are you doing?" i heard him ask curiously.

"i'm building something, buddy! like what you do with your building blocks," his father  looked up from his work to talk to his son, smiling.

"ooh, what are you building?" drew grinned, a glimmer in his eye, similar to his father's.

"it's a surprise," he told him, turning to look at me. i raised my eyebrows with a smile, walking over.

he stood up and placed a soft kiss on my lips and a hand onto my swollen belly. "how are my two girls?" he asked, gazing down at me.

"we're fine. now, I'd like you to tell me what you're building," i whispered, glancing at Drew, who was now interested in knocking on the wood with his small knuckles.

"like i said," his eyes glimmered. "it's a surprise." he gave me another kiss before turning back to his work. i rolled my eyes playfully.

"alright, drew, let's go back inside. we need to let daddy work," i called for my son, sending a smirk to his father, who was giving me an amused look.

"okay! can we go to the playground?" drew asked, taking my hand as we walked back to house.

"sure, sweetie. Do you want me to call and see if isaac, charlotte, and aaron can come?" i grinned at the thought of seeing not only his friends again, but mine, too.

drew nodded eagerly, racing off towards the house to put in his shoes. once i got inside, i pulled out my phone to make a few calls.

"there they are!" i pointed to the playground straight ahead. drew smiled widely and started walking faster, his curls bobbing.

he walked over to three other children, a girl with blonde hair and grey eyes, a boy with tan features and brown hair, and another boy with a dirty blonde 'fohawk'; charlotte, isaac, and aaron.

he immediately wrapped them all into a group hug before running off towards the nearest slide.

i shook my head and chuckled, heading towards a bench where a few familiar faces sat.

"bree!" michael jumped up and walked over to me with a grin, followed by a couple others. "hello, hello!" i laughed, giving him an awkward sideways hug, making sure my belly wasn't getting squished.
