i woke up the next morning to the sound of a loud clap of thunder, causing me to almost fall off of my bed. i groaned and glanced at my clock. 6:40. great way to wake up on a saturday morning.
believe me, i love storms, just not when they wake me up early in my morning. i climbed over and lifted the blinds of my window, peering out into the drizzling morning.
i sighed and fell back onto my bed, staring up at the ceiling. i thought back to last night, the creepy pervert, the desperate girls, luke and michael being drunk, and most of all, ashton.
i remembered how he stepped up and defended me when that guy was going to do it with me. it was almost like he thought it was his duty to protect me, which was odd.
and when he saw calum acknowledging me, he kept getting closer to me and standing beside me. even though his grip hurt, it still meant he was purposely holding onto me, almost as if he didn't want me to leave him.
i thought maybe, just possibly, what michael said last night during his drunken state was, in fact, true. but, i'm probably just crazy.
and when i hugged him, it was probably the best decision of my life. he was shocked, but when he wrapped his arms around me, it was probably the best time of my life.
not just the fact he smelled like vanilla, but when ashton hugged me back, he purposely pulled me closer to him. his arms around me simply made me felt a little bit more protected.
after awhile of just sitting in my bed, i realized how stupid i probably looked just staring at the ceiling with an idiotic grin plastered on my face. with a sigh, i stood up and trudged downstairs, where i surprisingly found my dad sitting at the counter, reading the newspaper.
"hey sweetie. why are you up this early?" he asked as i entered the kitchen.
"could say the same thing about you," i grinned towards him as i pulled a box of cereal out of the pantry. "but, it was mother nature's fault."
dad nodded as i poured the cereal into a bowl. "me too. but, hey, i got to see the newspaper delivery guy!" he told me excitedly.
"those still exist?" i rose my brow as i poured my milk and grabbed myself a spoon. "well, obviously. he was on a bike an everything!"
i shook my head and chuckled, taking a bite of my cereal. a very loud boom of thunder made me jump yet again and spill the cereal that was on my spoon and heading towards my mouth. my spoon clattered to the ground and i heaved a sigh.
"so, did you have fun last night?" my dad asked, completely ignoring what just happened. i don't blame him, though, this seems to occur often for me. never trust me and my clumsiness.
"oh, yeah," i nodded, a little distracted with cleaning up my mess rather than giving him a better answer.
"ashton seems like a nice boy," he remarked, more interested in his newspaper than helping me clean up. "mhmm," i said in agreement, tossing a paper towel into the trashcan.
"who are his friends you hung out with?" dad asked. "these guys luke and michael," i answered nonchalantly, returning to my cereal.
as much as i loved him, i didn't want my dad to be interrogating me this early in the morning.
"luke hemmings?" dad put down his newspaper and turned to look at me. i nodded, eating another bite of cereal. "how do you know him?"
"i know him parents from school. liz and andrew hemmings. good people," dad nodded and turned his focus back to the newspaper. i looked at him in confusion and just shook my head. i guess it's a small world after all.
