Draco had eaten the cake Sophie baked for him and neither of them discussed their disagreement. Their relationship had gone back to being as functional as it could be. The two teenagers were back to spending their evenings in the living room reading, speaking when either felt it was appropriate.
Sophie was invested in the novel she was reading and had not glanced up in hours.
"Ahem." The sound of someone clearing their throat scared Sophie.
She squealed in her seat and looked up to find Sirius standing in front of her. Sirius bounced back and forth on his feet and had his arms tucked behind his back.
He looked nervous.
Sophie had never seen that emotion on Sirius. She placed her book down on her lap and looked over at Draco to see he had done the same.
"I would like to inform you two of a recent development." Sirius swallowed and licked his lips. "We will be having another guest staying with us, and I believe you're both familiar with him already." Draco and Sophie glanced at each other before looking back at Sirius. "Now I know this will be an adjustment, but Id like to think both of you will try and make it work." There was a silent pause. "Right then." Sirius walked over to the front door and opened it.
A tall man with sandy brown hair and eyes walked into the living room. He was wearing a medium brown suit and carried a leather briefcase. Silver scars lightly stretched across his face and reflected the light.
"Professor Lupin." Sophie said in shock quickly rising from the couch to shake his hand.
"Evening Ms. Verilia." Remus replied as he took her hand with a gentle smile. "Though you can just call me Remus."
Draco did not move from his seat.
Sirius stared sternly at Draco and gestured to Remus.
"Brilliant." Draco mumbled. "Another bloody person to share this prison with."
"Draco." Sirius spoke as he widened his eyes and gestured to Remus again. Remus nodded his head at Draco as if he did not hear his snarky remark.
"Um...." Sirius glanced back and forth between everyone awkwardly then cleared his throat. "Remus will be staying with me in my room." The room went silent. "So if you need to reach him..... that's uh....where he'll be." Silence followed. "......Right then." Sirius clapped his hands together and took off up the stairs.
"Good to see you." Remus nodded in Sophie's direction before following behind Sirius with his briefcase in hand.
Sophie looked over at Draco, "what was that about?" she asked.
Draco shrugged. "They must be shagging. How should I know."
"No not that." Sophie dismissed. "I'm talking about you."
He shot his eyes up at Sophie and scowled. "What?" he barked.
"You couldn't even say hello to Professor Lupin?" She asked annoyed.
"Why should I?" Draco growled.
"Oh I don't know. He was our professor for a year and he'll be living with us now. Seems a bit stupid to try and make your life harder than it already is."
Draco scowled at Sophie before letting out a long breath and standing up from his seat. "I may as well pitch myself of the astronomy tower." He angrily left the living room, walking up to his bedroom.
What's his problem?
The room felt uncomfortable as the silence grew. Sophie got up from the couch and headed to her bedroom.
