A week had gone by, and Draco could feel himself becoming a new version of himself he had never seen before. He was actually having fun. It didn't take long for him to grow comfortable in the group, and he loved Theo for letting him join, but he would never tell him that.
Theo and Draco walked along the corridor heading for the great hall to eat lunch together. Draco had made an offhand comment that sparked laughter in Theo. He clutched his stomach until he couldn't breathe anymore. He slapped Draco on the shoulder.
"Mate, that was hilarious." Theo sighed.
"I figured from your reaction." Draco replied and they continued walking.
"Leave me alone." The two boys heard a female voice echo from down the hall. They eyed each other, shrugged, then headed towards the voice.
Crabbe, Goyle, and Flint gathered around someone, making it impossible for whoever it was to pass. Crabbe's head moved slightly, and Theo and Draco immediately recognized it as Cho. They shot each other worried looks and pushed forward.
"I said leave me alone." Cho stood her ground.
"No. I don't think we will." Goyle spoke cockily.
"Blood traitor." Flint growled.
"What's going on here?" Theo asked.
The three bullies turned their head. "Go away Nott." Goyle spoke. "We'll handle this."
Cho looked at Theo with desperate eyes.
Draco moved forward and slapped Crabbe on the back playfully. He leaned in and whispered something into Crabbe's ear. Draco pulled back and watched his face. Crabbe looked down the corridor behind him then back at Cho. Draco raised his eyebrows.
"See you around. Blood traitor." Crabbe wore a wicked smirk. "Come on mates." Crabbe set off down the hallway and Goyle and Flint followed him in confusion. Cho sighed a breath of relief.
"Let's go." Draco grabbed Theo's arm and ushered him into the great hall. Neither of them spoke to Cho, avoiding drawing suspicion to the two of them.
They sat down to eat.
"What did you say to them?" Theo asked in a whisper and leaned towards Draco.
"Don't worry about it." Draco placed a sandwich on his plate ignoring Theo.
"Malfoy." Theo looked at him. "Did you get yourself into trouble?" Theo always worried about Draco. He found that Draco acted before he thought out his actions, finding himself in trouble frequently.
"No." Draco replied annoyed. He poured himself a glass of water.
"Malfoy." Theo said again.
"Alright." Draco set down his glass knowing Theo was not going to let this go. "I told them McGonagall was on her way to the great hall and I didn't want them getting points taken away from our house." Draco rolled his eyes. "Then I said Harry Potter is down the other corridor if they want a bloody challenge." Draco shrugged. "Leave it alone now."
A huge smile crept on Theo's face. "You lied for Cho." Theo felt his heart warm.
"No I didn't." Draco scoffed.
"You're a good friend." Theo nudged Draco.
"Shut it, Nott."
"Okay." Theo teased in a sing song voice.
"Seriously, Nott. Cut it out." Draco felt himself growing irritated.
"Geez." Theo held up his hands. "Okay okay."
