Draco slept soundly for the first time since he arrived at Grimmauld place. He rolled over in bed to find himself blinded by the sunlight shining through his bedroom window. He let out a groan and shielded his face with a pillow. Why was the sun so bright already? Draco abruptly sat up in his bed as he looked around the well lit room.
No.
There's no way.
He sat in confusion for several minutes until he finally removed himself from his bed and threw on a shirt. He carefully opened his bedroom door to find himself staring right at Sirius.
"Blimey Draco." A large cheerful grin spread along Sirius' face as he chuckled. "Did you just wake up? It's already past midday."
It was true.
Draco dragged his hand through his hair and straightened his shoulders. "No. I've been up." He replied cockily.
Sirius smirked to himself. "Whatever you say. There's sandwiches downstairs if you'd like one." Sirius closed his bedroom door behind him and disappeared down the hallway.
Draco's shoulders slumped back downwards once Sirius was out of sight. Sure Draco had taken naps or even fallen asleep early enough in the morning it had bled into afternoon, but he had never went to bed at a reasonable time and slept through the morning.
He closed himself in the bathroom and looked at his reflection. He looked......well rested.
He splashed cold water onto his face and leaned over the sink as he thought about the previous night. He was going soft. It was the only explanation. He was growing weak. He would have to cut off whatever was happening between him and Sophie immediately. Sure getting a full nights rest was good for him, all he had wanted for days, but if it was caused by speaking with Sophie, he couldn't stand the thought.
He wiped his face off with a towel and swung open the bathroom door. His hand clenched the door handle painfully tight as he found himself making eye contact with Sophie. She had her hand on her bedroom door and was mid closing it until she froze to her spot and stared back at Draco. The two of them stared for what felt like an hour until Sophie broke the silence.
"Did you just wake up?" She asked trying to hide her amusement.
"No!" Draco barked. "Why does everyone keep asking me that. Just stay away from me!" He slammed the bathroom door, entered his bedroom, and slammed his bedroom door.
Sophies eyes widened and her stomach dropped. Had she dreamed last night. "Drama queen." She mumbled to herself as rolled her eyes.
Her night with Draco had been surprisingly pleasant. Their conversation had left her feeling better about her situation with Fred. She knew she could write to one of her friends and talk about it, but she didn't want them to make a big deal out of it since they knew the entire situation. Telling Draco and hearing his thoughts was refreshing. She had thought her and Draco could be civil to each other long enough to last until they were back at Hogwarts, but maybe Draco didn't want that. Merlin knew she could use some company besides Sirius.
Sophie arrived to the kitchen and sat down at the table with Sirius. Kreacher brought over a plate with a sandwich on it and placed it in front of Sophie.
She smiled and nodded towards Kreacher.
"Is Draco joining us?" Sirius asked placing a napkin on his lap.
Sophie scoffed. "No. I don't think he will be."
Sirius tilted his head and looked at Sophie. "You seem......different. Are you and Draco getting along?"
