The silence feels too much for me, so I take a deep breath and speak up, feeling both sorry and sincere.

"I'm sorry, Olivia,"

Her eyes remain fixed on me, her expression unreadable as I continue, my words tumbling out in a rush.

"I'm sorry for everything I did to you, for the pain I caused. I never meant for any of this to happen, and I never intended to hurt you like this,"

I feel the heaviness of what I said filling the room, and I struggle to maintain eye contact. My heart aches with regret and a deep yearning as I talk, my voice cracking slightly.

"I know I was selfish by keeping the truth from you. I should have been honest from the start, instead of letting things spiral out of control,"

A heavy silence follows my words, and I watch her closely, hoping to catch a glimpse of her emotions. Her silence feels like a deep chasm between us, and it gnaws at my insides. I want so desperately to bridge that gap, to somehow make amends for the hurt I caused.

"I feel the weight of my actions every single day," I admit, my voice barely a whisper now. "Especially since that night you discovered the truth,"

She stays quiet, and I feel frustrated and helpless. All I want is a sign, a word from her. I wished she would say something, anything, to let me know that my apology didn't fall on deaf ears. But her silence and unreadable face cuts me deeply, make me feel hurt and confused.

With a heavy heart, I finally let out a sigh, my shoulders slumping in defeat. I poured out my regrets and laid my soul bare, and yet the silence between us persists. It's a stark reminder of the chasm I created with my actions.

"I appreciate your apologies, Ace," she finally speaks, her gaze finally meeting mine. "But I want you to know that things won't be the same anymore,"

Her words hit me hard like a punch to the gut. I feel a heaviness in my chest and a lump in my throat. The realization that I irreparably altered something precious between us is almost suffocating. I nod slowly, feeling a deep sense of sadness and regret.

"I understand," I reply, my voice barely above a whisper.

Her admission cuts deep, and I feel a surge of desperation. I want her—need her—in my life, and the idea of losing her drives me to the brink of insanity. As I struggle to maintain my composure, I know there is more I need to say.

"Olivia, there's something I need you to know," I start, my gaze focused on hers. "The reason my marriage fell apart was because Marisa cheated on me,"

She looks genuinely surprised, her face showing a blend of shock and disbelief. The room is quiet as she waits for me to proceed, so I press on.
