O L I V I A

As we drive back to Marta's house, I see Ace turn onto a different street, away from where we were going.

"Where are you going?" I ask with a frown, and Ace shoots me a playful grin.

"I'm in the mood for some pastries. Want to join me?"

I hesitate for a moment, not sure about the new plan. But before I can say anything, Ace stops the car in front of a cute pastry shop and looks at me expectantly.

I blush and finally nod, then get out of the car and follow him inside. He leads me to a nice spot by the window, and I sit down. While I wait, he goes to order our food.

The smell of yummy pastries fills the air, making my mouth water in anticipation. When our eyes meet, he offers me a small, genuine smile and I look away, feeling a flutter in my stomach.

I pretend to be interested in observing the passing scenery outside. Ace soon joins me at the table with our pastries, a satisfied smile on his lips. I clear my throat, breaking the silence between us.

"So, what did you order?" I question and Ace's eyes sparkle with mischief.

"Well, since it's winter, I went for some classics that are perfect for this season," he points to the array of treats before us. "We have warm apple turnovers, flaky croissants filled with chocolate and almond paste, and of course, a couple of fruit tarts,"

"They all look amazing," I admit, my stomach rumbling in agreement.

We're just chillin' and having a good time, munching on buttery pastries and sipping our drinks. It's like all the tension from before disappeared, and we're both just enjoying the moment.

The pastries taste so good, they distract me from all the complicated stuff going on in my head. It's nice to just be here, enjoying the treats and the cozy vibe of the shop. As we keep eating, Ace clears his throat and looks at me with a playful smile.

"Do you have a go-to pastry that you can't resist?" He asks, changing the subject from our serious talks, and I can't help but smile at the question.

"Well," I start, tapping my chin playfully. "I've to admit that I'm a sucker for a good chocolate croissant. There's just something about the combination of flaky pastry and rich chocolate that's hard to resist," I admit and he nods in agreement, his expression thoughtful.

"Ah, a classic choice. You can't go wrong with a chocolate croissant. But you know what's interesting? Pastries often vary from country to country. Like, in France, they have their croissants, in Italy, you'll find cannoli, and in Denmark, they have those delightful danishes," he explains and I chuckle.

"That's true. It's amazing how different cultures put their own twist on pastries. It's like a delicious form of art," I say and Ace leans back in his chair, a contemplative expression on his face.
