"We hang out all the time." I respond, trying to seem cool about the invitation. In reality, I'm freaking out.

"Yeah but it could be nice to have some time with just us, right? It was fun to hang out with you at the pool and... I don't know. Never mind it was a dumb idea."

"Hey, no it's okay. I would love to come in. Can I park in your driveway?"

"Go for it."

I park my car and we go inside. His house is so quiet when his parents are gone. My dad is always watching a football game so it's never this tranquil at my place.

"Do you want something to drink? Coffee?" He asks.

Cute.

"No, it's late and I don't handle that stuff as well as you do."

"Okay. You can sit on the couch I just need to put this away." He gestures to his backpack. What's in there? I'm getting more curious by the minute.

I take a breath to steady my heartbeat. This is the perfect time to tell him. I can't allow myself to back out now.

He comes back downstairs. The sound of his footsteps makes my heart start pounding again.

So much for that steady breathing I just did.

He sits next to me and sighs. "Man, work can be exhausting when my parents aren't around. It's actually really nice to have some help for a change."

"Have you had to do that on your own before?"

"I have. The stress can really get to me sometimes..."

"That must be hard... I'm sorry."

"It's alright. I have you now. Don't I?" He smiles.

Fuck

Okay

I can do this

"Tweek..."

"Yes?"

"I uh..."

Fuck how do I start this? First I should ask...

"Have you ever wondered about your sexuality?"

"You mean what gender I'm attracted to?"

"Yeah."

"Not really."

"Oh..."

"I kinda just like who I like... it can be weird but I've never stressed about it."

"Yeah..."

That only confused me more.

"Tweek... I really like you. Like..." I trail off.

He nods. "I would hope so. We are friends after all."

Oh.

Oh...

"Right... yeah I like you because you're my friend. Just like how I like all my friends."

"You okay?"

"I need to leave."

I stand up and walk to the door.

"Craig? Why so suddenly?"

"..."

I can't think of what to say.

My heart hurts.

I've never felt this before.

Fuck this.

I leave without saying another word.

My ears feel like they're ringing for the entire car ride home.

I just want to get home so I can sleep.

I don't want to think anymore.
