Narrator

Hanni could remember that day.

Every day and night, there wasn't a moment in her life where she didn't have every single moment of that day living in her brain.

- Hanni POV -

"Are you okay?" Minji asked.

"Yeah," I replied as if there was nothing wrong.

It was getting close to that time of the year.

"Are you sure?" Hyein followed after.

"Yeah!" I put on a fake smile to ease their worries.

After that day, I didn't go back to school.

I was taking a trip somewhere special.

"PUT YOUR LIFE JACKET ON AND RUN TO THE DECK!!" Staff yelled throughout the ship.

"I DON'T HAVE A LIFE VEST!!" I yelled in a panicked.

My best friend suddenly stopped and turned to look at me.

"No! Don't! Y/N, DON'T!!" I yelled as Y/n took their life vest off and placed it around me.

"I'm right behind you. I just need to catch my breath!" Y/n responded.

I knew it was a lie, but I gave Y/n the benefit of the doubt.

Before I knew it, I found myself being dragged out of the ocean and the ship was sinking as if it had mulitple anchors attached to it.

"The girls didn't wanna come again?" Mom suddenly asked.

I was too into my own thoughts to answer.

"It scares me when you want to do this," Mom said for the hundredth time.

"Are you sure you can handle it? It's best to leave things in the past," Mom kept on with her nervous mom lecture.

But this year it was special.

It was the 10th year anniversary since the ship had sank.

"Maybe we should change the playlist," Mom tried to change the subject.

I smacked her hand away before she even got the chance.

The music that played on our way to our destination was the only thing that helped me cope.

"You're just making yourself depressed," Mom said as she lower the music.

I knew that maybe she was right...

But I wanted to let things out.

I wanted the unescapable sorrow out.

To most people, it was simple.

But to me....,

I left the person I loved the most on that ship.

I left them to die.
