The night was cold, laughter filled the air, and everyone was enjoying that special time of year.

It was holiday season.

Everyone was with their family, friends, or loved ones.

It was a time to be filled with joy.

You could see all the people around the town playing in the snow, laughing, singing, sharing hugs and kisses....

But two people weren't.

They stood still, facing each other, 4 feet apart, with tears rolling down their cheeks.

- Y/N POV -

The cold air of winter was embracing me like it did once before.

It was painful.

My body could remember....

The endless times I had to bundle up as much as I could with the little clothes I had on.

The endless times I hopped on the bus just to keep warm.

The endless times I had to cover my entire body with hand warmers, so I wouldn't freeze to death.

But this time...,

It was different.

I had a long sleeve on, with a hoodie, and an overcoat. My beanie kept my ears warm, my pants were thick enough to protect me from the cold breeze, and my hand warmers were just for that....

To keep my hands warm.

"You look well," Minji spoke up.

I took a hitched breath and nodded.

My heart was breaking into a million pieces from the sight in front of me.

Minji had been there for me during my darkest years, until one day...

She couldn't take it anymore.

My pain and misery was eating her alive.

So, she chose to walk away.

"I'm sorry," Minji softly spoke up again.

"I'm sorry too," I exhaled...

Trying not to cry.

- Minji POV -

It was an unexpected sight.

I hadn't seen Y/n in 3 years.

3 long and painful years.

I had always wondered if Y/n was alright. If they were eating, if they were drinking water, if they had a place to sleep, or if their situation had gotten any better in general.

Walking away....

Was the hardest thing I ever had to do...
