But what about you and Alex?" Chole asked, her curiosity getting the better of her.
"Just forget about it, okay?" Ariel said, her tone sounding irritated. "I don't want to talk about it."
"But I can't just ignore it," Chole said, refusing to let the matter drop. "You're my best friend, and I'm worried about you. What did Alex do to make you so upset?"
"I'll tell you later, okay?" Ariel said, her voice pleading. "Just not right now."
Chole hesitated, but finally relented.
"It's getting late," Chole said, checking her watch.
"Yeah, I guess I should head home," Ariel said, standing up from the couch.
"Are you sure you're okay?" Chole asked, looking up at her friend with concern.
"I'm fine," Ariel said, though she knew her words were unconvincing. "I'll be fine."
"Okay, if you're sure," Chole said, still looking skeptical. "But call me if you need anything, okay?"
"I will," Ariel said, hugging her friend goodbye. "Thanks for everything."

As Alex was about to speak, his phone began to ring.
"Hello?" he answered, his voice sounding tense."Hi, Alex," a voice said on the other end of the line. It was Ella.
"I'm really sorry, I have to call you back," Alex said,
interrupting her before she could say anything else.
"You don't have to," Ella said, sounding confused. "I told you to call me when you got home. Are you home yet?""No, I'm not," Alex said, feeling a pang of guilt.
"No, I'm not angry," Ella said, her voice softening. "I'm just glad you're home safe."
"Thank you," Alex said, his guilt growing. "I really appreciate that."
There was a long pause, and then Ella spoke again. "Good night, Alex. I'll talk to you tomorrow."
Before Alex could respond, the line went dead. He stood there, staring at his phone in disbelief. He had really messed up this time.
Alex quickly dialed Ella's number, hoping she would pick up.
"Hello?" Ella said, sounding tired.
"Hey, it's me," Alex said, his voice full of remorse. "I'm really sorry."
"I know," Ella said, her tone softening. "I'm not mad, I promise. I just wanted to make sure you were okay."
"Thank you," Alex said, feeling a wave of relief. "I really appreciate that."
"Of course," Ella said, a small smile on her face.
"I love you," Alex said, his voice full of emotion.
"I love you too," Ella said, her voice just as heartfelt.
There was a pause, and then Alex spoke again. "I'll talk to you soon, okay?"
