Chapter Seventy-Four: Rowan, Nancy, Wake Up

(Papa)

***

In the real world, Alistair, Eddie, Max, Cami, Dustin, Lucas, Valerie and Robin didn't waste a second before they bolted into Eddie's room to find music that could save Rowan and Nancy from Vecna's curse.

Once they were all crammed inside, they tore the room apart for cassettes—drawers were thrown open, tapes were were moved about and taken off of the desk where Eddie's guitar was hanging above it, and Eddie's backpack and any other bags that might have tapes inside was upended as they scrambled to grab tapes. Hugin helped in the search. picking up tapes with his beak and showing them to Alistair who hurriedly shook his head and resumed moving about the tapes, trying to find something that could save his sister and Nancy.

Alistair had no idea if Eddie's metal and hard rock tapes could save Nancy, but he knew Eddie must have a Joan Jett cassette in here—it was the only thing Alistair could think of that could save his sister. Desperation fuelled him as he tried to find it, joining Dustin, Lucas and Cami in tearing through the drawers trying to find it, because Rowan was cursed, she was cursed and Vecna could be minutes or seconds away from killing her, he could hear Steve begging her to stay with him, and his heart was pounding viciously in his chest and he was trying to keep breathing and not let panic choke him when panic was fuelling him as much as desperation, he had to find the music that could save Rowan, he couldn't lose her, he couldn't, he couldn't, he couldn't.

But he couldn't find Joan Jett's music, only more of Eddie's metal music, and while Alistair knew that might save his sister, it wasn't Joan Jett, because if I'm Still Standing was his favourite song, then Bad Reputation had to be his sister's song, and he couldn't find it!

A thought struck Alistair—maybe he should head to his trailer, that might have the cassette in Rowan's room—but it was too big of a risk because what if Vecna killed his sister before he came back, what if he lost her because he couldn't find this stupid tape, he couldn't lose Rowan, he couldn't lose his sister.

Come on, come on, where the fuck is it?! Alistair screamed mentally, trying to hold back the sob threatening to break loose.

Hugin cawed and Alistair turned, seeing a Mötorhead tape in Hugin's beak. Alistair shook his head—no, it wasn't it, it wasn't Joan Jett, he needed to keep looking, he had to find it.

In the frantic searching, Steve and Leo must have yelled something to Erica, the only one to stay behind—because she'd run back to them and reported, "Steve and Leo said you need to hurry!"

"Yeah no shit!" Dustin yelled back.

"What do you think we're doing?!" Cami screamed, sounding as desperate as Alistair felt.
