"Overall, our mission and goal is to make therapy accessible to those who therapy may not come easy to. Thank you all for presenting us the opportunity to present and we hope you consider our proposal." I said as I finished up me and Nile's hour long speech. Yes...a whole hour. I am tired to say the least, I've been up since eight preparing for this speech and it's currently twelve in the afternoon.
Conventions have a whole long drawn out process, let me break it down for y'all. We had to submit our topic (which had to be in our scope of practice), had to submit curriculum vitae (showing we had public speaking experience and qualifications), actually prepare for the hour speech, and of course the topic has to be voted on by the convention committee.
"You did amazing Mai." Nile smiled and placed his hand on the small of my back as we exited the stage.
"Nah, WE did amazing." I smiled as we approached our table grabbing our belongings.
"Hey, can I speak to you guys before you leave ?" One of the committee members approached.
"Yeah, sure." Nile responded.
"I just wanted to commend you guys on your speech, I think you guys make an amazing pair. You'll be hearing back from us really soon." She hinted before leaving the room.
"Well...sounds like our proposal is already approved." I raised my eyebrows, dawning a smile.
"Sounds like it." Nile responded with a smile of his own as we excited the ball room.
"Great speech y'all." A familiar voice said from behind us.
"Adonis ? What are you doing here ?" I questioned in astonishment, before hugging him.
"Well, after wrapping my sessions up with you and finishing up my senior year of college, I decided to become an intern for It's Okay." He tilted his head towards Nile.
"You always have tricks up your sleeve I see." I said looking back at him.
"Maybe." He shrugged playfully.
