"Welcome, what can I get for you guys to drink?" The waitress asked.

"I'll have water with a side of lemon." Nile responded.

"I'll have the same." I stated.

"Okay, are you guys ready to order or do y'all need a minute?" she said, noting our drinks.

"Yeah, you know what you're getting Ermias?" Nile looked at me.

"Yeah, I'll have the cajun shrimp pasta with garlic bread." I responded.

"I'm gonna have the catfish lafayette." He smiled, handing both of our menus to the waitress.

"Coming right up, I'll be right back with the drinks." She walked away to then return a minute later.

"Thank you." I said as she sat the drinks down.

"So tell me about yourself, Ermias" Nile said, sipping his drink. "We are here to get to know each other more."

I hate when people want me to tell them about myself. I don't really know how to correctly do so. If I do tell them about me they may cry out of pity.

"Okay, what is it you'd like to know? You're gonna have to be a little more specific Mr. Bossman." I chuckled, causing him to join in.

"Let's see," He thought to himself. "Where are you from?"

"I'm actually from here, what about you?" I replied.

"I'm originally from Chicago, but after my father got killed my mom decided to move us here to Dallas. She eventually had my sister, which I'm glad she did because she brought light into our lives during a dark time." He stated as I nodded at his words.

Father got killed ? I wonder why or how...that's not something you ask though. Gotta have some couth...plus curiosity killed the cat.

"Aww, that's really sweet." I smiled while sipping my drink.

"So what about your family?" He asked, causing my smile to fade a little. "I'm sorry, we don't have to talk about it if you don't want to." He noticed my smile fading.

"No, it's fine." I gulped. "I actually am...was a foster kid. Both of my parents abandoned me as a baby causing me to really be in foster care for all of my life until I turned 18. I have found family within my friends Lyrica and Dustin though. " I smiled weakly as I felt my tear ducts watering.

Don't cry! Please don't cry, this is embarrassing. You're okay.

Family and foster care is such a touchy subject at times. The amount of abuse I went through, no kid should ever have to experience. I wouldn't wish any of my experiences on my worst enemy.
