Someday - Nickelback
The rest of the week was kind of uneventful. We went back to her place in San Jose and kinda just chilled around the house. She was on house arrest and I wasn't even supposed to stay, but her grandparents were not gonna kick me out. I had my flight set to London, since I was going to the UK to see Izzy after this. Part of me didn't want to leave, the other part knew I had to.
"Make sure you come back." Asterin said with a smile. She drove me to the airport despite the trouble she knew she was gonna get it.
"You know I will. You're my favorite or whatever." I said with a smile. I waved her off as I walked into the airport. I looked down at my phone for the ticket information and ran right into the back of someone.
"Shit! Shit I'm sorry." I said, picking up the bag and handing it to the girl in front of me.
"You're so pretty, oh my god." She said, smiling at me. "Thank you, by the way."
"No problem, sorry for running into you." I said with a small laugh.
"No problem! Where you headed?" She asked, walking alongside me to security.
"London, and you?" She asked. She had a southern accent, so I knew somewhere like Texas or something.
"Florida actually, my boyfriend lives there so I'm visiting him." She said with a smile. We went through security and everything together before we sat waiting for our flights.
"I hope you have a safe flight!" I yelled, waving at her as i departed for my flight.
"You too!" She said, waving back at me. She'd given me her number so I could text her later. She was very nice and I was glad I got to meet her.
I walked to my gate and boarded the flight with a sigh. I was excited to see Izzy, but saddened with the way I left Asterin. She was in no state to be alone, but I couldn't stay forever either.
I played music on the fourteen hour flight. It was miserable, I won't lie. But when I got off and saw Izzy greeting me by the main doors, I knew it was worth it. She looked so excited and happy to see me that it immediately lifted my mood.
"Kai!" Izzy yelled, happiness lingering in her voice.
"Izzy!" I yelled back. She hugged me tightly and laughed into it. We both pulled away and walked into the parking lot. We got into a car and I got to finally meet the one and only, Wilbur Soot.
"We're going to my place, is that okay?" He asked, yawning slightly before puling out of the parking space. I nodded quickly and we drove to his place in Brighton.
"Jack and Tommy should be here soon with George." Izzy said, laying down on her bed and patting the spot next to her.
"Jack?" I asked, looking at her with a questioning look.
"Yeah, why do you ask?"
"I literally saw him this week in Cali. He has my bag." I laughed. She laughed in response.
"Must be fate." She joked.
"It's giving wattpad." I joked back. We both laughed before the air around us filled with tension.
"How's Ash?' She asked, picking thespian round her fingernails.
"Iz, I think you should reach out to her." I said softly.
"What if she doesn't want me to, though." She whispered with a small sigh. "I hate feeling like I don't even know my best friend."
"Trust me, Iz. You know what she needs, you just have to trust your instincts not what you think she needs or doesn't need."
"She needs me and I'm failing her."
"It's not too late."
"It is too late. It's been months."
"Better late than never, Izzy. Put yourself in her shoes. What if it was you and Tommy? What if you lost him and she never reached out because she was waiting for you to do it."
"I'd think she didn't know me at all." Izzy whispered.
"Yeah, you would." I responded quietly.
"She thinks I don't know her at all." She whispered, realization dawning on her.
"Yeah, she does, Izzy."
"But I do know her."
"You're not proving it, Iz."
I wasn't trying to be mean and I think she knows it too. She just needs to know because Asterin needs her more than she lets on.
