See You Again - Tyler The Creator
"Date idea!" Jack yelled as soon as I answered the call.
"Oh? And what's that?" I asked, setting him on my end table.
"Let's both make food and go on a date over the phone." He said, leaning back in his gaming chair.
"I like that idea." I said with a small laugh. "What food though? How exactly Is this going to work anyway?"
"Well, we both make some kind of food. Doesn't matter what really. Then we both go outside or something and just sit and eat in the phone. It does sound kinda stupid, doesn't it?" He asked. I could tell he got insecure, but I genuinely loved the idea and the fact that he even thought of a date we could do over the phone.
"I'll make a sandwich and bring some strawberries. I'll go to the park near my house." I said, smiling at him. "I love the idea, Jack, stop overthinking it."
"Okay, okay. I'll make the same thing." He said, smiling at me. He took off his headphones and pushed his chair away from his desk. I sat up and walked downstairs, taking my phone with me.
"Kai!" My mom yelled, excited to see me. Don't know why, I've been here all day and we literally had a two hour conversation a few hours ago.
"Momma!" I yelled back, smiling at her as she leaned against the counter. She smiled back at me and turned back around to do the dishes. "I'm making some food, did you want any?"
"Whatcha makin'?" She asked, looking at me with curiosity.
"Just a sandwich and cutting up some strawberries. I'm gonna go to the park to eat though, so speak now or forever hold your peace." I said.
"HI MOMMA SINCLAIRE!" Jack screamed, making my speakers cut out from how loud he was.
"Is that Jack?" She asked, her smile as wide as it could be.
"Yeah, momma." I laughed, pulling the stuff out from the fridge to make two sandwiches and cut up the strawberries.
"Hello, Jack!" My mom greeted, picking up the phone and taking it with her to the sink.
"Mom! That's my phone!" I laughed out, pulling out a plate and a paper towel.
"And I pay for this shit, babe. I'm talking to your boyfriend."
"Yeah yeah, whatever." I laughed, putting together her sandwich. They had a conversation that I tuned out while I put together the food.
"Here's your boyfriend back." My mom said, setting the phone against the stove top and walking back to the sink.
"Wash your hands before you eat this delicious gourmet sandwich, Momma." I said over dramatically.
"Yah yeah yeah, I know." She said, washing her hands before walking back to me. "Thank you." She thanked, kissing the top of my head. I smiled at her and packed my food into baggies I could take with me to the park.
"Ready?" Jack asked and I knew he was walking to his car.
"Ready." I replied, grabbing my keys and walking out the door with my stuff. I drove to the park and we sat in silence. Jack raged a bit, but we both arrived at different places at the same time. I put in my AirPods and walked to the nearest spot in the park. I sat down under a tree and somehow set my phone up on the grass. How it stayed up I'm not sure.
"This is nice." He said before taking a bite of his sandwich. I smiled my agreement and hummed out a song. "What song is that?"
"See you again by Tyler the Creator." I said, smiling softly at my phone as I popped a strawberry in my mouth.
"Ah, okay." He said, smiling back at me.
"How's your day going so far?" I asked, temporarily forgetting about time zones.
"Kai, It's like nine o'clock here." Jack laughed.
"Oh yeah. So how was your day?' I asked, trying not to laugh at my slip-up.
"It was okay. It turned around a good half an hour ago though." He said. I cocked my head in confusion, finishing the bite of my sandwich I had taken.
"How come?" I asked.
"Because I got to talk to you." He said with a smile before taking another bite. I smiled, feeling my face heat up.
"I'm just so sexy, huh?" I joked, trying to keep from getting overly sappy.
"You are, you are."
Things fell silent for a little bit and I enjoyed the peacefulness of the park with the guy I knew I was falling for rapidly.
"I'll make you my girlfriend one day, Kai Manifold." He said. I couldn't hide my blush this time. Him and fucking surprising me with his fucking words bro.
"Manifold?" I asked, looking over at my phone.
"I said what I said." He replied, looking out at the landscape with a wide grin.
"You're a dork, Sinclaire." I replied before eating a few strawberries. He choked on his food and I laughed. I guess he couldn't take what he dished out.
