Daylight - David Kushner

We were going back to Izzy's house today, per her mother's request. They got into an argument and she said she wasn't allowed at Will's anymore. Izzy was not happy about that to be honest.

"Sorry to say, Uncle Will, but your sister's a fucking bitch!" Izzy yelled, barging into his room. I lagged behind.

"Woah, woah. Why the sudden anger, kid?"

"Your sister-"

"Your mother." He corrected. Not the time Will, rookie mistake man.

"Your sister, just told me I wasn't allowed to be here anymore because I told her I was staying a few extra days and apparently now I'm lazy and good for nothing and banned from coming here." She ranted, throwing her phone on the bed and pacing. I just leaned in the doorway.

"Just go home for a bit, kid. It won't be the end of the world and if it is, I'll pick you up." He said, looking at her sympathetically.

"You're not gonna do anything?!" She asked, looking at him with misdirected anger. She seems to do that a lot.

"You remember the last time I did kid or else I would. You weren't allowed to come here for longer and snuck out on a damn train by yourself."

"Which is exactly what's going to happen again if I go the hell back!" She yelled.

God I love drama.

"Iz, it'll be fine. I promise. Just go home for a few weeks and then come back."

"At this point I should just move in with you." She mumbled, rolling her eyes and grabbing her phone from the bed.

"Your eighteen, Iz, we can do that if you want."

"I'm eighteen but I still have to abide by her rules?! This is bullshit!"

"You live under her roof, kid." He said with a sigh.

"I fucking hate this!" She yelled, walking out of the room. I saluted Will and he saluted back. I followed Izzy to her room and she packed her bag angrily.

"I guess you get to meet my mother." Izzy sighed, sitting next to me on the bed.

"It's alright, I promise. We'll come back before I go home." I said with a smile. It cheered her up some, that's all I could really ask for.

"You're leaving?" Tommy asked, walking in the room. Jack looked at. me and smiled, I smiled back.

"She's being a dick again. I'll end up staying at yours or something." She said with a shrug.

"You know Mum won't mind." Tommy said with a laugh. "You'll be back eventually anyway."

"Everyone keeps saying that but none of you actually realize how pissed she is." Izzy mumbled, falling back on the bed.

"I'm sure it'll be fine, Iz." Jack consoled with a soft smile. We all sat on the bed and waited.

"Isabella!" I heard a feminine voice echo through the house. "Get your ass in the bloody car!"

"Here we go." Izzy sighed.

"No! You stay in the room, Izzy! Who the hell do you think you are coming into my house and yelling like that?!" Will yelled, walking down the stairs at a quick pace.

"She's my kid, Will! Not fucking yours! There's no reason for her to be here every waking minute!"

"Why?! Because you have nobody at the house to do shit for you?! Change your damn attitude if you're coming into my house!"

"Oh bloody hell." Izzy whispered, leaning her head down and covering her ears with her arms.

"Christ." Jack mumbled, closing the bedroom door so the yells were muffled.

"This is so embarrassing." Izzy whispered, shaking her head gently.

"Nobody is gonna think of you any differently." Jack said softly, rubbing her back.

"Nah, my parents get louder than this. You're all good, Iz." I said with a soft smile.

"Izzy!" Her mom yelled barging into the room.

"I'm fucking going! Quiet down, will ya! You're so fucking annoying and embarrassing! This is why nobody is fucking around you anymore, Mum!" Izzy yelled back.

"Iz, take a minute and breathe, please." Tommy said, eyeing me and Jack. I would definitely take that as my cue to leave, but her mom was blocking the door and she's kinda scary. So I turned to Jack and started a conversation that neither of us actually paid attention too because Izzy was beyond livid.

"You're just like your fucking Dad." Her mom said. It struck a nerve and I saw it. I could see the entire way her brain worked like a map. That was her point of no return. She stood up and walked out of the room, walking down the hallway.

"Isabella!" Her mother screamed, following her.

"Iz?" Will asked rather loudly.

"Now's the time where I fucking go." Tommy said, stumbling as he stood up and ran down the hallway.

"I'm not bloody leaving with her fucking bitch ass! Fucking try me!" Izzy screamed just before the front door slammed and reverberated the house.

"So, you come here often, Jack?" I asked, trying to rid the room of the lingering tension.

"All the time." he said with a small smile. We both tried to stifle our laughter. The situation was not funny, but we had one hell of a way of coping.
