Paradox

In our lives, every single day
We're all just trying to make a way

Me and you, going through the motions
Feeling different types of emotions

Pushing through the worst of times
In hopes of the moments where we can smile

It seems like life is on repeat
Sometimes it's victory, sometimes it's defeat

One moment we're happy, in love
The next we're crying on the bathroom floor

Our friends with whom we used to play trust fall
Moved away and didn't give a call

All the people we thought we knew
Showed us that we didn't have a clue

Yesterday we were struggling for our allowance
But today we're struggling to pay for gas

All the demons in our head
Sometimes seem to be our only friends

There are people who seem like they have it all
And those who seem like they have nothing at all

There are people out there taking their lives
And those who are struggling to survive
