You treat me like I'm just a robot or servant
Who only exists to do all that you wish
To talk when I'm asked to
And know when to shut up
Then you say that you love me
You don't even know me

I can't look too bad
I can't look too pretty

I can't talk too loud
I can't talk too quietly

I can't be reserved
Not too outgoing

My worth is measured
By a letter or numbers

So I must get good grades
And make you proud parents

You give me some money
Then tell me how to spend it

You care for me
And use it to guilt me

You forget I'm human
Who needs support and attention
Love and understanding
And space when it's called for
I should have a say too
You're not always right
