It’s been almost a month since that incident with Jesse at Tropical Café and to be honest I don’t know how I feel about him now. We’re always talking and I mean I like talking to him he’s my friend but I don’t know if he’s talking to me because we are friends or if he’s interested in something more. I don’t even know if I would be interested in something more, he was Luke’s best friend would that look bad? But it’s not like we would ever get together I mean we just got back to being friends and talking, Why am I even thinking this way all it will do is make this relationship more complicated.
“Hello Ms. Winston would you like to rejoin our class,” Mrs. Marcello said interrupting my thoughts.
“What?” I didn’t comprehend what she was saying at all.
“Please rejoin our class mentally dear.” She said drawing my attention to the board. I heard snickers and laughs from the girls around me. I took in a slow breath regaining my composure I took out a notepad and pen.
“Now class we have a new book project due in two weeks, I will assign you partners now and you’ll have a couple of minutes to figure out your plan.” She said and looked around the room. “Now the book report must be based off of a book I will assign you and your partner to read. It should be a creative form of expressing the text such as some type of art, a painting, song, or a sketch that represents the mood and purpose of the book. Now you may talk among yourselves while I come around and tell you your partners.” I continued writing down her instructions and thinking of if I should even attempt to sketch something. I continued to dwell on this as Mrs. Marcello approached me.
“Cecily you will be partners with Eirie.” WHAT. THE. HELL. Seriously him of all people, to be quite honest I haven’t talked to him since that first day of school. I do have English and math with him but he sits on the other side of the room and is always talking to some random girl. I don’t care though he’s so rude, I just feel sorry for the girl who falls for him. And he doesn’t do any of his homework and I bet he’s even failing this class he could possibly be the worse partner I have ever been paired up with.
“Excuse me I don’t mean to seem rude but could I possibly have another partner?” I asked Mrs. Marcello politely.
“Why what’s wrong with Mr. Williams?”
“Oh nothing I just thought since my schedule is so hectic it would be better for me to work by myself.”
“Well then this will be a great opportunity for you to learn some time management wont it?” she said smiling like a chucky doll, did she hate me or what. It was sad to say but I’m not getting out of this one.
“Oh and you two will be reading Romeo and Juliet, I expect a lot from you guys!” she glanced in Eirie’s direction then walked away towards Kendra and her group. At that point Mr. Tall dark and annoying walked over and sat in the seat next to me.
“Don’t worry princess I don’t want to be your partner anymore than you want me to be.”
“Don’t call me princess,” I spat a little harshly.
“Sorry your highness, anyway what’s the plan, my house or yours after school?”
“What do you mean?”
“We’re going to be writing a song, I would rather do it in private so my house or yours?”
“Oh yeah, like I’m going to let you see where I live. And who said we’re writing a song?”
“Ha don’t flatter yourself I have no interest in stalking a girl like you. And if you have any better ideas please share.” I bit my tongue holding in my smart remark instead I just glared at him. “So my house it is, meet me at your locker after school tomorrow and we’ll get started.”
