The sky was grey and plagued with clouds drowning out all possible light.  I was determined to stop acting like a little girl, so what if he’s a flirt. That has nothing to do with me, I should just keep being friend and stop over analyzing everything.  I just hope I can beat the rain.

“I’m going to Eirie’s; I should be back in a couple hours,” I said kissing my mother’s check.

“Ok be safe,” she smiled and squeezed my arm lightly.  I called up the stairs to Jordan and put on my jacket.

“Hey Curly, can you drive me!” after a moment Jordan appeared at the top of the stairs.

“Sure kid where to?” he said grabbing his keys off the counter and heading to the car.

“Eirie’s house,” I answered in pursuit of him.  He opened the door and jumped in the car.  I sat in the passenger seat while he started the engine; we drove off in the direction of Eirie’s house.

“So you’re going to this kid’s house again?  What’s going on between you too?”  Jordan asked giving me a quizzical look.

“Nothing, I’ve just been avoiding him for the past few days and I wanted to apologize.”

“Put you haven’t even apologized to Jesse.”

“I’ve called Jesse, I’ve tried Jess’s house.  I even went to his work when I thought he would be working, he doesn’t want to see me anymore and I have to get used to that.”  I said twiddling my thumbs.  It was a hard thing to think about, someone who I cared for so much didn’t even want to see me let alone answer my phone calls.  We pulled up to Eirie’s gate and called the main house.

“Hello?”  Eirie answered

“Hey, can we talk?”  I asked trying not to lose my nerve.

“Sure,” he said and opened the gate, Jordan dropped me off at the door and I waved goodbye before I went inside.   As usual Lisa and Frank were there to greet me.

“Good evening Cecily, Eirie’s in the kitchen, it’s just down the hall to the left,” Lisa said pointing in the direction of the kitchen.

“Thanks guys,” I said following the directions when I arrived in the kitchen Eirie stood there with his mother.

“Oh hello, Mrs. Vivian I hope I’m not interrupting anything,”

“Of course not dearest, come we’re just about to eat dinner,” she said giving me a quick hug.

“Oh, thank you but I only had to talk to Eirie real quick I would hate to impose,”  I said eyeing Eirie he just shrugged his shoulder and left to go sit in the dining room.

“Preposterous! Now go sit down and Lisa will serve us.”  I nodded quickly and sat down at the far end of the table.

“Now Eirie doesn’t bite my dear, you may sit next to him,” standing up from his chair Eirie pulled out the one next to him for me to sit in.

“Um, thanks”

“And about the biting, don’t be so sure I don’t.”  His mother laughed and I awkwardly joined in, trying to seem as comfortable as possible.  Lisa came in and put plates of food in front of us.  Salad, chicken parmesan and chocolate soufflé, I coughed and looked between the two of them launch in to eating there salad.  I followed there example taking the small fork and placing lettuce on it.

“So what do your parents do sweetheart?” Mrs. Vivian asked looking up from her food.

“Well my dad works for an architect company which is currently over sea’s building a new fashion studio for an Italian designer.  And my mom runs her own business, she’s an event coordinator.”  I said placing another fork full in my mouth.
