“You seem out of it, what’s going on?” Tawny said giving me a knowing look.
“Nothing I just got into a minor argument with Eirie,”
“Really you guys are fighting already?”
“No we’re fine, I forgave him. I guess you can say we’re friends again.” I said as we turned the corner into the next hallway. I looked down in the area of my locker only to see Eirie sitting there waiting for me. My heart did a summersault even if I was still upset with him, which ticked me off even more.
“Looks like I’m in for a treat,” Tawny looked between us as I came to a stop in front of my locker. I looked at Eirie the way he leaned against my locker, and how his hair flipped just above his ears. He stood there in his burgundy sweater and black jeans playing with his earring. For the first time he looked like he had no idea what to expect but I would never stoop to his level.
“Hello Eirie.”
“Hello,” Eirie stood up straight like he had something to say but I cut him off with my hand.
“Look I’m sorry for slapping you yesterday…”
“You SLAPPED him?!?!” Tawny said appalled
“Yes, that’s not the point, well anyway I overreacted and I’m sorry, but I think I got some lyrics out of it,” I said pulling a paper out of my pocket. “I’ll sing it when we get to your house.”
“You’re willing to come over to my house? Your sure?” he said doubt filling his gaze.
“Yeah why not?”
“Just making sure,” he said then backed away from my locker, letting me grab my stuff out.
“So you guys are good again?” Tawny looked with hope filled eyes.
“You told her?” he asked rolling his eyes.
“Yes she’s my best friend, have you ever had one of those?”
“Nope, never stayed in one place long enough,” he said walking towards his car. I gave Tawny a look and signaled that I would call her later then left after Eirie.
“What do you mean?”
“I mean like when I was younger we moved around a lot so no I don’t have a best friend.” He sounded a bit upset so I reached to grab his arm I locked on and turned him around to see his face but he seemed emotionless.
“I’m sorry I didn’t know,” I let go of his arm and pushed him “Race you to the car!” then I took off weaving in-between cars and laughing, I noticed Eirie come up on my side and I pushed him only feet away from the car he leaped and landed right in front of the passenger door and opened it for me.
“I won.” He didn’t seem out of breath at all while I was almost on the verge of panting
“Whatever it’s just because you cheated!” I slide into the passenger’s seat.
“Someone’s a sore loser,” he answered sliding in to the car he turned up the music blasting it again and this time I didn’t know if it was to stop the awkwardness or to keep him from talking.
“So let me hear these lyrics of yours,” Eirie asked me once we were sitting at the grand piano.
“Ok but if you laugh at me I swear I’m leaving!”
“Alright, alright just go already.”
“I gazed upon the stars and found your face. You held me in your grasp a twisted fate. Your blue tear drops found its way to my heart… that’s all I got,” I said looking down we only had a couple more days and I was being a failure as a partner.
