I had never been to Eirie’s house but I imagined it to be dark and lack a touch of a female presence. I mean look at the kid he’s all brawn and no brain. We came to a stop at a magnificent gate and I looked around to see if this was a joke.
“You don’t have to take me to some random house and try to impress me; we can just go to your house and do the project.”
“Well good thing I don’t have to impress you cause we’re at my house.” He half smiled half laughed at my facial expression when he pressed in the code to open the gate. He eased the car through and we pulled up to a magnificent house with granite stairs leading to their sliding French doors which should have probably been used for the back.
“You can get out now,” he said nudging to the car door I opened it and walked to the front waiting for him to join me, he opened the door and I stepped in to a grand foyer filled with expensive vases a crystal chandelier and an original art work of some kind. Eirie placed his keys on the table next to the door.
“Eirie, is that you dear?” a female voice called from another room.
“Yes mother,” he said patiently waiting for the footsteps to reach us. She walked in her eyes landing on me she smiled
“Oh darling who is this?
“That’s Cecily, Cecily this is my mother Vivian.”
“It’s so nice to meet you hun!” his mother said embracing me in a bear hug.
“Ugh nice to meet you too Mrs. Williams,” I said trying to pull away slightly.
“Oh no darling, call me Vivian!” she said letting go of me finally she looked me over. “Oh my you’re all sweaty and your hair is matted.”
“Oh yeah, sorry I just came from practice,” I said looking over at Eirie who was sitting back on the table his face expressing his boredom.
“Well this won’t do, Frank, Lisa!” his mother called wondering off in a new direction and making her way back.
“Yes lady Vivian,” they said entering the room, now I realized that they were their maids.
“Please show Cecily to my room she needs to take a shower and let her borrow some of Annalisa’s old clothes, we should wash those.”
“Yes my lady,” they began to drag me towards the stairs.
“Um, it’s fine really Eirie and I…”
“Don’t drag me in to this,” Eirie said lifting his hands in innocents.
“But, but…” I tried to go back to Eirie like a drenched cat looking for shelter but this Frank girl was strong.
“Don’t worry hunny Eirie’s not going anywhere; now go take your shower.” She said shooing me off behind Frank and Lisa. I sighed I really could care less about Eirie I just felt awkward taking a shower in his house. I let the girls lead me through an enormous hallway filled with paintings and sculptures. I held my hands in front of me afraid I would break some priceless artifact. They led me through cherry wood doors into a room equipped with a king sized bed a fifty inch plasma screen TV, a couch from the royal palace and a dresser that looked like it was made for a queen.
“The shower is through that door Lady Cecily, we’ll bring you some clothes soon!” said Lisa pointing to the opposite side of the room.
“You can just call me Cecily.” I said moving towards the door “Thanks by the way.”
“No problem Cecily,” Frank said and then they quickly left the room. I opened the bathroom door locking it I took off my sweaty clothes, folded them and sat them next to the door. I started the shower and got into what felt like a hot spring scrubbing of the dirt and sweat I washed my hair and body. The shower was refreshing and I couldn’t complain that I really needed one whether I wanted to admit it or not. I turned off the shower when I heard a knock on the door; I put my underclothes back on and covered myself with a towel.
“Yes?” I opened the door to see Frank with some jeans and sweat shirt.
“Here are some clothes for you to wear,” she handed them over to me then promptly stepped out to let me change.
“Thank you,” I called after her but I was sure she couldn’t hear me. I put the sweat shirt on and slipped on the jeans which were two sizes too small. This made my butt bust out of them; I looked like a smaller version of Kim Kardashian but with a major tan. I used the sweater to try to cover as much as possible. I brushed the tangles out of my hair and opened the door. Lisa was waiting for me on the other side her blonde hair flopping every which way like she had just ran a marathon.
“I will take you to Mr. Eirie now,” she began escorting me out the door. I followed her as we walked to the west wing of the house. There she opened dark stained doors and pushed me in shutting the door lightly. Eirie obviously hadn’t heard because he continued to play a gorgeous baby grand piano. The melody was so pretty and his fingers moved softly and fluidly over the keys like he was afraid to break them. He was entranced by the piano swaying to the tempo of the music and closing his eyes instinctively I moved closer to him in awe and wonder. He opened his mouth and the most beautiful sounding voice I had ever heard came out sending chills down my spine.
“It feels so cold without you here tonight; I’ll hold you close sing you a lullaby. Take my hand don’t let go so easily I want you to come home to me.” He sang the words seeping deep into my heart, I felt a tear roll down my face and I quickly whipped it off. He abruptly stopped and turned towards the door.
“It’s rude to come in unannounced,” he said patting the seat next to him like I was some small child. I sat down ignoring the impulse to slap him.
“Sorry but I didn’t want to interrupt it was just so…so pretty!” he laughed a bit nodding his head he began playing light accompaniment.
“So I think I should write the piano music to your lyrics, want to give it a shot?”
“Well are you even competent enough to write a song?”
“I wrote the one you were just crying about.” At that moment I chewed back all my words and sat there not knowing what to say, I coughed trying to regain my composure.
“Really? It was good.”
“Yeah so let’s give it a try, um shoot something at me.”
“Huh?”
“Just give me ideas.”
“Ugh… I love you, Romeo?” This time Eirie truly laughed throwing his head back, tears falling down his face he sighed.
“You are terrible at this, ok so what is Romeo and Juliet about?”
“Star-crossed lovers!” I answered enthusiastically.
“Okay so how do you think they felt?”
“Um, how am I supposed to know?” Eirie sighed massaging his temples
“This is going to be a really long two weeks.”
Luke to the side, isn't he dreamy.
