A COUPLE YEARS LATER

i stood in front of the mirror of the venue of my wedding.

after the funeral, sierra and i began to talk and eventually started dating.

we had our ups and downs, but most of it was ups.

i engaged to her a couple months ago and now we were about to get married.

of course it was hard without savannah being here, but sierra gave me a reason to live.

i straightened my tie and looked behind me to see dad standing there.

"you're perfect son." he spoke gruffly as he helped me perfect my tie.

"thank you." i smiled as i hugged him.

"i'm so proud of you." he whispered as he hugged me back.

i heard the bell ring and quickly made my way outside to the front of the isle.

michael, calum, and ashton stood on my side as the groomsmen and calum's new girlfriend, brandy, along with crystal, michael's wife, stood on the bridesmaids side.

soon enough the music began and my breath was taken away.

sierra was beautiful.

she had a long white dress flow behind her and beautiful floral sleeves.

i couldn't help but chock back my emotions.

i felt a tap on my shoulder and saw ashton handing me a tissue.

i thanked him quietly and took it.

"we are here today to celebrate the marriage of sierra deaton and luke hemmings." the priest began.

"do you, sierra deaton take luke hemmings to be your husband?" the priest asked.

"i do." sierra replied.

"and do you luke hemmings take sierra deaton to be your wife?" the priest asked.

"by the power invested in me, i now pronounce you husband and wife. you can now kiss the bride." the priest smiled.

i smiled and pulled sierra in and kissed her while the crowd clapped.

"just before everyone goes there own ways. i want to point out a chair in the middle here." i started. "this chair belongs to my beautiful sister, savannah, who unfortunately could not be here for today. she's up in heaven hopefully watching over me physically. i love you savannah." i spoke quickly before grabbing a flower and placing it on her chair.

"let's get this party started!" michael yelled causing everyone to laugh.

4 YEARS LATER

"daddy! kara isn't being fair!" my son, henry, yelled as he stomped over to me.

"how is she not being fair?" i asked as i looked down at him.

"i was playing with a toy and she stole it from me!" henry whined.

i chuckled and took henry's hand over to where kara, my oldest daughter was playing.

"kara, we don't steal from your brother without asking." i explained as i tried to grab the toy back causing kara to scream and sierra come running in.

"gosh, we just need to buy two of everything." she sighed as she took the toy and handed it back to henry. "next time, ask mommy to help before grabbing."

kara sniffled and nodded before pouting off.

"i miss her." i sighed as i leaned down on the couch.

"i know. i miss her too." sierra whispered as she sat down next to me.

"miss who?" kara asked as she reappeared.

"my sister." luke smiled softly. "she would have been a fantastic aunt."

"is that the woman i see in the pictures?" henry asked.

"it is. her name is savannah and let me tell you, she was one strong woman." i smiled softly.

"when can i meet her?" kara asked.

"she isn't here anymore. she's up in heaven." sierra explained.

"well, tell her i said hi!" kara smiled brightly as she skipped off.

i couldn't help but let my heart melt.

"she would have loved this." i sighed as i felt my emotions picking up.

"she would have, so let's live for her. let's teach the kids who she was." sierra smiled.

"did you know that i loved you?" i laughed as i leaned in for a kiss.

"i love you too." sierra smiled.

although savannah isn't here to live the rest of her life, doesn't mean we won't live it to the best of our abilities.

no life is hopeless enough.
