PART 3

Tuesday December 20th 1988

Mike was in his room after coming back from a small date at the diner with Jane.  He was so happy dating her and doesn't understand why he felt guilt a few months ago dating her.  The guilt dissipated over time.

Mike decided to write in his neglected journal he never wrote in for months.  Mike pulled out the black covered book and opened it up.  Mike noticed an envelope sitting in his book that said To: Mike.  Mike was confused why this letter was in the journal, especially since he was the only one that knew of its existence.  Mike swallowed a lump in his throat he didn't know he had as he opened the letter and saw a picture fall out of the letter.  He looked at it and got goosebumps seeing himself with a cute hazel-eyed guy.

Dear Mike

You probably don't remember me but I am Will Byers, your best friend and boyfriend.  You probably don't remember me at all because something happened  that erased me from this timeline.  If you keep reading this I will tell you about myself, about us.

Mike read all the sheets which were written on front and back.  Mike's mind was blown from the information.  Will told all about their relationship and history and what Will thinks that happened to change the timeline.  Mike had to read the letter 3 times to catch all the info.

Jane had superpowers like telekinesis and came from Hawkins National Laboratory

Mike hated sports and popularity

Hawkins was invaded by forces from another dimension

Mike was bisexual and was in a relationship with a guy

Mike was a proud nerd and friends with the king of nerds Dustin Henderson

The last one was totally mind-blowing.  Maybe Lucas seen this alternative timeline in his dream.  Mike couldn't understand how he could be such a different person from who he is now.  Mike felt a major headache coming on so he put the letter back in the journal and went to the bathroom to take 2 Tylenol and he then went to bed.  Mike felt something mental snap in his mind as the headache really ramped up.  It was if a lock to repressed memories was broken.

Mike couldn't sleep due to all the new memories flooding into his mind.  He had alternative timeline memories in addition to his current childhood memories.  One that really stuck out was when he was 10 years old.

In his current timeline Greg came over to Mike's house for a sleepover.  Greg was Mike's best friend and they were sharing the bed sleeping.  Mike was concerned for Greg since Troy gave Greg a black eye that day in school.  Mike reached out to hold Greg because Mike had a unexplained need to protect him and comfort him.  Mike cuddled up to Greg as his instincts kicked in.  Greg woke up and was angry at Mike.  "Why are you hugging me Mike?  Are you some kind of faggot or something?"  Mike was so shocked he released Greg and slept on his side of the bed.  He just wanted to be close to make sure Greg was okay.  "Sorry Greg, I thought you wanted a hug.  I won't do it again."  Mike turned away and tears invaded his vision because he felt so small and worthless at that moment.

Mike now had an alternative vision.  The Will Byers from his letter was sleeping over.  Will had major bruises on his chest and back.  Will didn't want Mike to know Lonnie hurt him until Mike wanted to hug Will and Will flinched.  "Will, I am sorry."  "It's no problem Mike.  I am a screw up Mike."  Will was crying.  "Don't say that Will.  You are perfect and it's not your fault your Dad is mean.  Do you think I can hold you as we sleep?  I know that helped me when I was little when Nance would sleep with me."  Will looked at Mike with adoration "yes Mike I would really like that."  Will quietly said.  Mike gently pulled Will into his embrace.  "You are safe now Will.  If this happens again come over here and I will help you.  I need you to be okay."  Mike cuddled Will all night.  Mike felt useful being needed by Will.
