My days at laceville academy

CHAPTER SIX

     "Um chioma"Amarachi starts and I look up at her .
   "Yh"
  "I heard you were partnered with the new student"
  "Yh"
   "Is it true?"
    Did she not just hear what I said.
    "Yes I was,is there any problem?"I asks and she shakes her head indicating a 'no'.
    I knew what was on her mind and fortunately for her,I wasn't interested in the boy but I knew she was.I was just going to his house for practicals alone and nothing more.
    When I finished my food I told Aunt amaka about the practical and she just kept nodding"so I'll be leaving soon....to his place"I say and she nods
    "Wait ,you are going to his place?"Amarachi suddenly asks and I nod.Is she deaf or what?.
   "But mum you don't allow us to go to see any boy"amarachi whines.
   "She's going there for practicals and nothing else, isn't that so?"aunt Amaka asks and looks at me.
   "Yes"I reply
    "Good,be back before three"she says and walks to the kitchen.
   I walk to my room and put all the necessary things I would need for the practical in my bag,then I head to the bathroom to bath.After that,i slid on the blue Jean and brown top i ironed yester-night,I pack my hair into a bun and pick up my school bag then i walk to the parlour avoiding the murderous look Amarachi gave me.

   I knock at the gate and switch on my phone,to read the description he gave me,just to make sure I was in the right place.I knock again after I had confirmed,I hear close footsteps and soon enough the door is opened and I'm faced with the new boy,my heart stops beating for a second when i see his face.I calm my nerves down and walk in,he shuts the door and padlocks it.
   I wanted to say something but the only think I could say was "good morning"
   "Good morning"he replies and walks ahead of me.It was then I looked at the house before me.It was a white story building,I had never seen one like it before,there were beautiful flowers of different colours packed in one corner of the house,then right in front of the house was a water fountain.Some of the water splashed on me when I was admiring it,I looked at the wet spot on my brown top and suddenly felt embarrassed.
    "Sorry"he says and I nod,the embarrassment suddenly leaves me,okay not all Sha.
     I trail behind him,the inside was even better than the outside .He walked to a room supposedly he's and I followed him.He goes to a corner of the room and brings some books then he drops it on his bed.I was wondering if I should sit on his bed or on a chair ,I look around for a chair and there is non so I sit on his bed.
    I bring out my books and place it on his bed.
    "You are a new student too right?"he asks
    "Yes, how'd you know"
    "Well,your uniform looks new"
   I was surprised he looked at me, I thought he never even spared a glance at me in school.
    "What's the name of the practical again?"he asks
    "The effect of auxins on maize seed.....I read a little about it yesterday"I reply
   "Me too"he says,we look into our notes constantly as we begin the practical.He goes outside to get some sand which we would use to plant the maize while I wrap the box with a black cellotape and cut a side of the four cornered box,this was how sunlight would reach the box.He comes in and places the cups with which he planted the maize in the box and we both face it towards sunlight.
  "I hope they will grow before Monday"he says while looking at the plant.
  "It's maize they grow really fast,they can even come out today,they just need a good amount of sunlight,water and the right soil"
  He looks at me immediately and ask"How do you know all that?"
  Oh no,I talked too much,I didn't want him to know i came from the village and I sometimes followed my parents to the farm.
    "I just know"I reply and he smiles.God!!, that smile.....was so captivating.
