Chapter 2

Alix sighs as she glances at the clock, "great, only another 45 minutes", she thinks to herself. Flipping to the next page of notes, pretending to pay attention. Shay nudges Alix, whispering "why don't we go get a cup of coffee?" El looks at Shay, "don't leave me alone" she whispers. Shay rolls her eyes making Alix chuckle softly. Nodding, Alix and Shay quietly get up, asking El if she wants anything before they make their way out of the lecture hall. A slight shiver runs down Alix's back, turning to look back as she walks out the door, noticing the professors eyes on her. Shay ushers her out the door.

"You are running on turtle mode today, El wasn't kidding". Alix hums and follows her friend down to the coffee cart. Nothing about this place had changed, like it was frozen in time. When they walked up to the cart, they were greeted by a familiar face. "Hi girls"
Shay smiled, "Karen! It's so good to see you"
Karen hums, "what can I get for you today?"
Shay hums and orders a macchiato, then nudges Alix. She hums and looks up.
"Oh, sorry. Can I get uhhhh-"
Shay rolls her eyes, "good lord. She'll take an americano."
Karen chuckles and starts the orders. "Are you girls here for alumni weekend?"
Shay nods and hums, while Alix mumbles "unfortunately." Karen shakes her head and laughs "you girls certainly haven't changed"
"Don't listen to her. She so excited to be here." Alix rolls her eyes and hums softly, "They said there would be wine and relaxing, they never said I'd have to sit through lectures again". This time it was Shay's turn to roll her eyes making Karen laugh. She hands over the coffees, as Alix hands her cash, also adding a cookie for El.
"Um no. I got this" Shay tries to hand Karen her card.
"Oh stop. Let me buy my hot shot doctor friend some coffee"
Shay sighs and puts her card away. Karen hands alix back her change, "It was good to see you girls again, enjoy the lectures". Alix puts the change in the tip jar.
"Oh we will" Shay says with a smirk. Blowing on her coffee, Alix takes a sip and waves at Karen. The ladies slowly making their way back to the lecture hall. Shay notices Alix cracking her knuckles. "Al-" "I'm fine Shay. Can we just drop it?" Alix says softly. Shay nods and holds the door open for Alix, the two making their way back to their seats. El smiles when Alix hands her the giant cookie.

"God i could kiss you right now" she whispers. Alix chuckles and sips her coffee, whispering back "please don't". The trio chuckle softly. Taking a slow sip of coffee, Alix's eyes meet her old professor's once again. El makes a soft grunting noise, causing alix to look at her and hum.
"She kept watching the door after you left..."
Shay rolls her eyes, "something's never change".
Alix sighs and sits back in her chair, partially listening to the lecture. Zoning out as she sips her coffee. Snapping out of the trance when she sees El and Shay starting to gather up their things. She looks down at the podium, letting out a sigh of relief when the woman is nowhere to be seen. Leaning back and stretching with her arms above her head, Alix lets out a small hum mixed with a moan as her back and elbows crack. Shay and El look at her, making her chuckle.
"Still cracking like a glow stick I hear"

Alix immediately freezes and locks eyes with El and Shay. Gulping softly as she turns and sees those gorgeous brown eyes looking at her. Slapping on a quick and fake smile, Alix hums.
"Hi Dr. B"
"I didn't think I'd see you here, and Alix we are way past formalities. Rebecca, please", the woman responded softly.
Alix hums and looks at El, then back at the woman,"It was a last minute thing, girls weekend".
Rebecca hummed and nods, "Well, you picked a great weekend to do so. It's supposed to be beautiful"
Alix sighed as she looked at the woman in front of her, taking note of woman's gaze slowly traveling her body then back up. Shay clears her throat, "come on babe, time for the next lecture. Dr. B"
Rebecca looks at Shay then at Alix, "babe...? "
Shay rolls her eyes at the women's antics and gently nudges Alix. Taking the hint, Alix grabs coffee and bag, standing up.
"Great lecture." Rebecca chuckles and looks at Alix, "You were zoned out for 3 quarters of it".
Blush slowly creeps up Alix's neck, did she always have to notice everything. "Sorry, I-" Rebecca waves it off,
"Alix, I'm only messing with you". Alix nods softly and looks up at her friends waiting by the door, "I really should good". The woman nods, watching as Alix makes her way to the isle. "You look good Alix". She turns and looks at her old professor, softly "So do you"

El sighs dramatically at the top of the stairs, "so help me god you are so slow. Come onnnn"
Rebecca chuckles and looks up at the two ladies then back at Alix, "Maybe I'll see you later". Alix nods and makes her way up to her friends. Shay pushes Alix out the door, making her laugh softly, while El glares back down at the professor. Rebecca waves and sighs softly. Hearing Alix laugh...the laugh she thought she'd never hear again. Stirring up all those old feelings and emotions, Rebecca groaned softly. "Damnit", she mumbles as she takes her hair out of the clip and flips her hair to the side. Sitting in Alix's chair as the next lecture starts. Sighing softly as she feels the heat left from Alix's body. Being pulled from her thoughts when her phone vibrates, rolling her eyes at the message. Her longtime boyfriend, apologizing for the umpth time. She lays her phone face down on the table, her mind wondering back to Alix, wondering why she was here after all these years.
