Chapter 8

The waitress come back, bringing refills, "And for you" smiling at Alix, she sits down a slice of cheesecake. Alix chuckles softly and wipes her mouth.
"Tell Joe, I said thanks"
"Of course", she winks then walks away.
Shay shakes her head as she sips her drink, and El lets out a soft snort. Alix sighs and rolls her eyes.
"It's not happening"
El groans "Why are you being so up tight about it? It's not like you're dating anyone. And she" motions to the waitress walking away, "clearly has dessert with you on her mind."
A soft chime coming from Alix's phone make El and Shay raise their eyebrows. Shay sits her drink down and hums.
"Maybe our little Alix is dating someone El. Her phone hasn't stopped vibrating the whole time we've been here"
"Spill, don't spare any details" El looks at Alix with excitement.
Alix shakes her head and chuckles at her friends antics. Wiping her mouth, then sitting the napkin on her finished plate.
"There is nothing to tell" Alix shrugs.
El hums softly and looks at Shay, "I think Alix is keeping secrets"
Shay nods and hums in agreement, "I agree. She is being awfully secretive".
"Hi, I'm still here" Alix chuckles, "I can still hear you two".
"Oh that's the point. We're hoping it guilt trips you into telling us who is it"
Rolling her eyes, Alix opens her phone two show her friends. Scrolling through email notifications and a couple from social media.
"Sorry to burst you bubble, nothing exciting"
El sighs dramatically and lays her head back. Shay chuckles and catches the waitress's attention. She walks back over.
"All done?"
Shay nods, "Mhm. It was delicious"
"Well, I'm glad to hear that"
She hands the ladies their checks. El hums when she hands her the slip of paper.
"Our friend here was wondering if she could have your number"
"EL!"
The waitress smirks and chuckles softly, taking out her notepad and scribbling something down. Ripping out the paper carefully, she hands it to Alix.
"Hopefully, I'll hear from you. Maybe we can go get some cheesecake", she winks and collects the checks and payments.
When she walks away, Alix punches El in the arm, making her laugh.
"What were you thinking?!"
"I was thinking you need to get laid"
Alix sighs and rolls her eyes, grabbing her bag and heading out after she leaves a tip on the table. Shay sighs and looks at El. She goes to say something when Shay shakes her head softly and gets up. The pair of ladies head out, stopping at the bar to say 'bye' to Joe.
"Where's the third musketeer?"
"She's waiting outside"
He nods and wipes a glass, "Tell her I hope to see her before she leaves. And it better not be another 5 years".
"I'll tell her. See you Joey".
The ladies make their way outside and see Alix leaning on a lamppost. Shay walks over and nudges her softly. Alix stands up straight and clears her throat softly. Just as El walks over, Henry pulls up. Alix quickly climbs in the SUV, Shay following behind her. El sighs and climbs in.
"How was dinner?"
"Good. Oh" Alix hands Henry the slice of cheesecake "brought you a sweet"
"Thank you"
Alix smiles softly and settles back into her sit, staring out the window. She crumbles the piece of paper in her hand, tossing it over at El. She sighs and leans forward so she can see across Shay.
"It's been almost 5 years Al. You have to get back on the horse"
Shay looks at El with a 'are you serious right now' look. Alix scoffs and looks at El.
"You're ridiculous"
"Oh come one! You haven't dated or fucked anyone since she left you a crying mess in our living room!"
"Woah, timeout" Shay interjects "El that was low"
"But I'm not wrong. She's moping over someone who used her and left her heart shattered. It's time to move on Alix!"
Alix shakes her head and lets out a short chuckle.
"Henry pull over please"
"Um?"
"Just pull over"
Henry pulls the car over, and Alix gets out. Shutting the door behind her, lightly knocking on the driver window. Henry rolls the window down and looks up at Alix. She can hear the protests from her friends in the back to get back in the car.
"Take them back to the hotel"
"But-"
"I'll be fine"
Henry sighs and looks at Alix. She nods then steps back and walks to the sidewalk. Shay rolls the window down.
"Alix get back in the car, please"
Alix ignores her and walks down the road.
"Al, come on. If you get back in, I'll kick El out and make her walk"
"Excuse me?!"
Alix rolls her eyes and ignores her friends, walking up to the crosswalk, checking both ways before she crosses.
"She's so fucking stubborn. Let her ass walk then" El huffs.
Shay lightly smacks her friends arm and glares at her. El mimics Shay and slumps back in her seat. Watching as Alix continues to walk up the street. Shay sighs. Henry drives past and beeps, Alix looks up and waves at him, then flips off El.
"Why does she get to be an asshole, but when I do it, I get in trouble?!"
Shay sighs and rolls her eyes, "El, the only one being an asshole is you".
El grumbles and crosses her arms over her chest. Henry makes his way to the hotel and drops the two ladies off. El huffs and walks in, leaving Shay standing next to the car. Henry rolls down the window.
"I'll go back for her"
"Knowing Alix, she's right around the corner. She always knew shortcuts to take"
Shay points over to the intersection, Henry looks over and sees Alix waiting to cross.
"I'll wait for her"
"With all due respect-"
"Henry" Shay sighs softly "let me handle this...please"
He sighs and nods. Waiting until Alix makes her way over to the hotel, she waves at him. He waves then pulls away. Shay walks over to Alix.
"Don't", crossing her arms over her chest.
"I'm not" Shay holds up her hands.
Alix sighs and walks into the hotel with Shay behind her. They walk over to the elevator and wait, as soon as the doors open, Alix gets in. Shay sighs and gets in.
"Al-"
"Don't Shay" sighing softly
Shay nods softly and hums. As soon as the elevator comes to a stop and the doors open, Alix all but runs out. Shay sighs and watches as her friend hurriedly makes her way down to her room. Hearing the click then a slam of the door.

Alix slams the door behind her, walking over and laying on the bed. Reaching for the pillow and holding it lightly over her face as she screams into it. After a few moments she sighs and tosses the pillow on the bed. Propping up on her elbows, she looks around the room, noticing a bottle of wine she bought earlier. "Fuck it" she thinks. Kicking off her booties, and sliding off her jeans. Sliding off her tank off and bra, putting on an oversized tee and putting her hair in a messy bun. Reaching for the wine, she opens it and pours it into a glass. Swirling it around and watching the legs on the wine.
"The bigger the legs, the better the wine", right now Alix didn't care. Taking another slow sip she walks out and sits on the balcony, looking out over the city. Filling her glass again, she takes a sip, letting the liquid slowly warm her. Alix reaches over for her phone, scrolling through her contacts, finding the one she wants. She clicks on the phone icon, taking another slow sip as the phone rings. After the third ring, Alix considers hanging up, until she hears someone on the other line.

"Hello?"
