Becca lets out a low groan when she hears her alarm beeping. She reaches over and shuts it off, snuggling back into Alix. Her eyes pop open as she looks at the woman she is cuddled into. "Shit. Shit. Shit. This wasn't supposed to happen", she thinks to herself. Carefully and quietly she gets up out of bed, trying not to disturb Alix. Becca quietly tiptoes around the bed and grabs her clothes, from the night before, and heads to the bathroom.

Attempting to shut the door as quietly as possible, she grimaces when the lock clicks loudly. Silently cursing she changes back into her clothes. Splashing cool water on her face, hoping it wakes her up from this dream. She cannot seriously be in Alix's hotel room right now. Looking in the mirror, Becca lets out a soft sigh. She can't be here, she can't do this to Alix again. Shutting off the light to the bathroom, she quietly opens the door. Walking as quietly as she can to grab her keys and phone. Freezing when she hears Alix rolling over and humming.
With a sigh, she picks up a pen and scribbles Alix a note, laying it next to her phone. 'I had to go home and get ready x'
Becca takes one last look as Alix sleeps peacefully, sighing softly. What was she doing, Alix had a life now, a life that didn't involve her. Making her way over to the door, she quietly opens it and shuts it behind her. When she turns around she's met with a familiar face, making her jump.
"You're up early"
Shay hums unamused, lightly tapping her key card against her leg.
"I could say the same thing to you. Sneaking out?"
Becca sighs, "I have to go home and get ready. I have a lecture at 8:30"
"Did you at least tell her 'bye'"
"Shay-"
"Wow" Shay lets out a short chuckle and shakes her head, "You haven't changed a bit Dr. Blake. When you called me last night, I almost ignored it". Shay clicks her tongue, "Now I know I should have".
"That's not fair-"
"No. What's not fair, is you're doing the same thing to her again!"
"Shhhh"
"No, you do not get to shush me"
Shay gives her a disgusted and irritated look.
"Do you even care about her?"
"Of course I do! I just-" Becca sighs and runs her fingers through her hair, "It's complicated"
"Right, complicated. Just like it was 5 years ago. Go to hell Becca"
With that, Shay brushes past Becca. Fighting the urge to say something back, she makes her way to the elevator. Leaning agains that wall and sighing. She was doing it again, pushing away the one person she loved.

Back in the room, Alix slowly starts to wake up. Stretching slightly and reaching over, groaning when she finds an empty bed. Leaning up on her elbow, she turns on the bedside lamp, squinting as her eyes adjust.
"Bec?"
When she doesn't get answer she sits up in bed and stretches her arms above her head. She looks down and sees the note, humming. Alix gets up and sighs, going over and opening the blinds, watching as the sun starts to rise. Grabbing an outfit she heads to the bathroom to get ready. Turning on the shower and letting it warm up before she gets in. Alix looks over when her phone dings, a message from Shay.
'I'm sorry'
'You're up early sunshine lol. What are you apologizing for? Did you sign us up for an ass crack of dawn exercise class?!'
' Ha ha, that happened once. And no. But I am sorry. I shouldn't have told her where you were'
'Shay, it's fine. Nothing happened, we just talked'
'I'm still sorry'
'Sunshine, it's fine'

With that, Alix sits her phone down and gets in the shower, letting it wash over her. Alix sighs and lays her forehead against the cool tile. After a few quiet moments, she finishes up and gets out, drying off. After fixing her hair, Alix changes into her outfit for the day; jeans, fitted tank, and a blazer. Keeping it casual enough to go out, but decent enough for lectures. Grabbing her keys and phone, she makes her way downstairs. Making her way over to her car, and starting it, there was one thing she needed today, it was coffee. Pulling into campus, Alix parks and gets out. Thanking the coffee gods, for the coffee shop next to campus. It used to be her early morning haven, stopping in before classes or exams to grab a coffee and pastry.

Slowly making her way back to campus, with coffees and pastries, she made her way back down the familiar corridors. Knocking on an office door. After a few seconds the door opens, and Becca stands there confused.
"Alix-?"
"Hi. I figured I'd bring you coffee before your lecture"
She hands Becca the coffee and pastry, chuckling softly when Becca continues to look at her confused. She takes them and sits them on the desk, allowing Alix to come in.
"What are you doing here?"
"Well, you left before the sun was up this morning. So I figured you might need some coffee"
Alix leans to sit against the back of a chair, sipping her coffee. Becca continues to look at her confused.
"Yeah, sorry about that" Becca leans to sit on her desk, crossing her arms.
"Are you..okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine. Just confused. I don't-"
Before she can finish another knock is heard coming from the door. Alix stands up as Becca opens its.

"Hi Darling!"
An older lady kisses Becca's cheek and hugs her.
"Mom, what are you doing here?"
"I wouldn't miss your big lecture", she notices Alix standing next to the chair, "I'm sorry I didn't mean to interrupt"
"You didn't" Becca looks at Alix, "uh mom, this is Dr. Taylor. She's a former student, just popped in to say 'hi'"
Alix looks at Becca for a split second feeling a pit growing in her stomach, watching as she drops her eyes. Alix hums and smiles politely, extending her hand.
"It's nice to meet you, Mrs. Blake"
"Likewise"
Her mom notices the coffee and pastries, smiling softly, "Oh is Chris here too? It feels like I haven't seen him in ages!"
Becca sighs and puts on a fake smile, "No. He couldn't make it today. Work called last minute and needed him."
"Oh that's too bad"
Alix clears her throat softly, "I'll let you two, catch up. Mrs. Blake it was a pleasure to meet you" offering a soft smile. She looks at Becca, "Dr. Blake, good luck with your lecture".
Becca offers a soft smile, watching as Alix walks out of her office. Mrs. Blake hums and walks over, opening the pastry bag, taking one out and taking a bite.
"Mm. Nothing beats a warm cookie in the morning"
Becca smiles to herself, remembering all the times Alix brought her a coffee and a cookie. It was their thing. She groans inwardly, Alix came to be supportive and she just brushed her off. Mrs Blake hands Becca a chunk of the cookie.
"Darling are you okay? Are you nervous?"
"Um no. I don't think so. Just pre lecture gitters" she lied.
Her mom hums and nods, going back to the cookie, talking about how her dad would be here shortly. Becca nods as she partially listens, feeling her phone vibrates in her hand. Looking down she sees a message from Alix:
'I know we said we'd talk this morning....but I don't think we'll get the chance. Good luck with your lectures, I'm sure you'll do fine.'
Becca sighs as she responds quickly.
'Alix I'm sorry. I really did intend for us to talk about things.'
'Don't worry about it, Dr. Blake'
Becca pinches the bride of her nose and sighs. This morning she woke up in Alix's bed, and now it felt like she lost her all over again. Wait no, correction. It felt like she pushed her away again.
