Aelynn was almost ready for school. She was already dressed in some grey sweatpants, a white t-shirt that hugged her body, and a blue flannel. She was in the middle of doing her hair when Elena came into her room.
She grabbed a black hair tie from her dresser as she looked at her sister.
"Can I help you?" Aelynn asked, flipping her head over to gather her hair for a messy bun.
Elena went to sit on her sister's bed, "we're going to Stefan's after school. Non-negotiable."
"Aren't I supposed to be the one bossing you around?" she chided, a small smile on her face as she went to grab her bookbag and her keys. She slid on a pair of worn Birkenstocks as she walked from her room with Elena following her.
"Yes," Elena caught herself, "wait," she shook her head as Aelynn let out a laugh, "no, we are a partnership."
Aelynn looked up the stairs, "Jeremy! Let's go," she called out, her hand grasping the front door. "Fine, I'll go with you, but I swear to God Elena, if anything happens," she stared at her sister as Jeremy begrudgingly came downstairs with his bookbag.
The oldest ruffled Jeremy's hair as he walked out the door towards the car, earning a glare from him as he went to fix it. Then, they were off to school.

"I really don't get why we're here," Aelynn groaned as they walked to the front door of the boarding house. She had her arms wrapped around her torso and head hung back. They had gotten to school fifteen minutes earlier, let Jeremy think they had entered the building and then ditched him there to go to the boarding house.
Elena gave her sister a look, "to make sure Vicki is okay."
Soon the two made it to the front door and Elena gave the door a knock. After a second of waiting Damon was the one who opened the door to greet the sisters. He had his hand resting on the top of the door, leaning slightly into it as he gave the two a smirk.
Elena was the one who broke the silence, "is Stefan here?"
"Yep."
"Where is he?"
"And good morning to you, little miss I'm-on-a-mission and little miss I-don't-speak," he gave the two a condescending smile.
Aelynn frowned at him, "how can you be so arrogant and glib after everything you've done?"
Damon sized her up with his eyes, still keeping his relaxed posture, "and how can you be so brave and stupid to call a vampire arrogant and glib?"
She narrowed her eyes, "if you wanted us dead, we'd be dead." She felt Elena elbow her in the ribs.
Damon raised his eyebrows, "yes, you would," he stated matter-of-factly.
"But we're not," Aelynn pushed.
"Yet." It sounded like a threat.
Elena cleared her throat, "where is Stefan?"
"He's upstairs," he wiggled his eyebrows, "singing "The rain in Spain". Knock yourselves out."
Elena and Aelynn shared a look before they walked into the house. It didn't get past the oldest how Damon looked the both of them over as they came inside and shut the door behind them.
Aelynn then watched as Elena went to the stairs, "Stefan?" She had called out as Aelynn hung back by the foyer.
She looked up as she heard the floor creaking. She then looked behind herself to see if the noise was behind them instead of in front.
