Aelynn sat in her history class with a bored look on her face. Her arms were folded across her chest as she stared at the textbook on her desk then up to their teacher at the front of the room. Mr. Tanner wasn't her favorite teacher, but he was always nice to her even though he was a general ass to anyone who tried to prove him wrong.
"Once our home state of Virginia joined the confederacy in 1861, it created a tremendous amount of tension within the state." Aelynn started to flip through her textbook as she drowned out the voice of Mr. Tanner talking about the beginning of the confederacy's movement in Virginia.
Then she started to look around, first she looked at Matt, who she sat next to in the back of the classroom. He was staring at Elena, that poor boy. Then her eyes travelled to her sister who she caught looking back at the new guy who was sitting one row back to her side. Aelynn shook her head. That girl was going to get herself into trouble. The last thing she needed was to get herself involved with another boy this early in the school year.
Aelynn looked over at Bonnie who now had her phone out. Matt was trying to look over her shoulder to see what she was texting and to whom. She hit his arm from across the aisle and gave him look. He put his hands up in a retreating manner as he looked at the Gilbert sister.
This was certainly an eventful first day of school.

The rest of the school day went by slowly, she went from class to class, most of which she was with her sister. The first day was always boring to her, going over the syllabus, not getting into any material. She could have fallen asleep.
Aelynn ended up losing Elena after school. She had probably went to go do her own thing, it wasn't up to her to keep Aelynn by her side. They might be close, but they weren't always attached at the hip.
Aelynn looked up from her feet as she approached the lockers. She spotted her younger brother walking in her general direction.
"Jeremy, hey!" she gave him a smile, which he almost returned, "where are you in a rush to get too?" she asked, turning to she was now in step with him.
He gave her a slightly annoyed look, but not the kind he would give to Elena when she would pester him about his whereabouts. If anything, Jeremy became closer with Aelynn after the accident and drifted away from Elena. "The grill."
Aelynn hummed in response and the clasped her hands together, "awesome, I'm going to come with you," he gave her another look, "not to babysit you, I just want some where to read that isn't my room."
He let out a sigh, "whatever you say." He tried to speed up to get away from the girl, when he saw she kept pace with him he shook his head, "I'm not going to be able to get rid of you am I?"
Aelynn gave him a small smile, "nope, you are officially stuck with me for the time being."

As soon as the pair entered The Grill, Jeremy found Vicki, as if he was able to track her location. She was honestly impressed with how fast her younger brother found her. Not that it was any of her business, she didn't particularly like Vicki, but as long as Jeremy was 'happy' she didn't mind her. Not like Elena did.
"Hey," she heard Jeremy say to the older girl.
Vicki looked at the boy with an annoyed look. "Working." She picked up a tray from the counter and turned to walk back to on elf her tables.
Aelynn smiled and walked next to her brother and clasped a hand to his shoulder, "you'll get her next time, champ." Her voice was laced with a laugh as Jeremy shrugged off her touch and walked away from her. "Damn, ok," she mumbled in his general direction, shaking her head with a small smile still on her face.
