On Thursday morning, Carina had accompanied her fiancée to work. They arrived at the barracks hand in hand.

-"oooooh my gooood!!!! Heyyyy guyyys Carina's here!!!!" Dean shouted.

Everyone had rushed downstairs and taken the brunette in their arms to say hello, ending with Andy.

Carina took her hands, while Maya told them she was going to change.

-"Thank you Andy. Thank you so much, for everything."

- "I'm glad she told you. Carina, I promised you..."

/Flashback/

They'd all had time to have a word with Carina in private.

-"Andy..."

- "Carina, sweetheart, we're really going to miss you."

- "I'm really going to miss you too." The brunette had turned her head towards the blonde who was talking with her American best friend, Taryn.

- "I've got a feeling you're going to miss someone more than all of us together."

- "Andy, I need you to make me a promise."

- "what's that?"

- "Protect Maya. Protect her from her father, protect her from herself. Save her life. Defend her at all costs. She's your sister and the love of my life. You know what she's like. You probably know her better than I do. We both saw what she was capable of last January. Maya's life is priceless. She's going to suffer... and she's going to bury it all inside herself.

Promise me, please, that you'll take care of her."

-"I promise, Carina. I'll protect Maya until you get her back."

-"Thank you. I couldn't live in a world where she'd let herself be wasted by grief. And protect her from the harpies who would jump all over her. Let her grieve for me..."

-"Carina... you'll have to come back. I've never seen Maya like she is since she's been with you. She loves you. She'll love you all her life."

-"That's my greatest wish. I really love her, you know. She's the love of my life."

They hugged each other.

-"Andy, can you please come" said Maya.

- "Excuse me, my best-friend duties are calling."

She and Taryn had promised to keep in touch, and everyone had left an hour early. They'd left the party at twenty-three to give the girls even one more hour to be in each other's arms.

They'd all hugged the brunette with a kind word. Making her cry in spite of themselves, shedding a tear in spite of themselves, even the most valiant and Maya and Carina had watched them, from the stoop, take turns leaving in their respective cars or as a group.

When they came back inside, Mason and Katherine were tidying up. Kathy had told them to go upstairs and that she and Mase would finish tidying up.
The two girls hugged the mother of the family and the blonde's brother before heading upstairs to the bathroom.

Carina was the first to enter the bedroom.

-"What's all this?" the Italian asked her girlfriend as she turned around.

- "sorpresa..."

Several blankets were laid on the floor as if to make a mattress, their pillows were on this improvised bed. Lavender flowers and candles were everywhere.

- "did, did you do this?"

- "with Andy's help, when you were busy chatting with our friends"
