As we ventured deeper into the woods, our cars securely parked in the isolated wilderness, a sense of solitude enveloped us. The decision was made among the group to kindle a fire, a practical choice given our remote location; it was unlikely anyone would stumble upon us in this desolate place.

Finding respite on a fallen tree log, I settled into my makeshift seat, and to my surprise, Jungkook chose to sit beside me. Despite my best efforts to ignore his presence, I maintained a conversation with the others.

"Remember the times we used to come here, not precisely to this spot but these very woods?" Jungkook inquired.

A fond smile played on my lips as I reminisced. "Yeah, I remember."

These woods had been our sanctuary, a refuge from the tumultuous outside world, particularly during the tumultuous period when Jungkook's father departed. Together, we constructed a quaint hideaway.

"Do you think it's still standing?" Jungkook pondered.

Shrugging, I replied, "Probably not. It's been years since we last visited."

The thought brought a tinge of sadness. So much had changed since those days, something I had never imagined would transpire between Jungkook and me. He had been my entire world for a substantial period, and I his. Our bond had been unbreakable, until it wasn't.

"Want to go and check?" he proposed.

"Not tonight, thanks," I declined. "It's too dark, and we probably wouldn't see anything."

Jungkook's expression mirrored his disappointment. "Yeah, I guess so."

I had little inclination to revisit those memories with him, sensing their futility. He sighed and rose to join his friends, retrieving a cigarette from one of them. Our eyes briefly met, but I averted my gaze.

I couldn't fathom why it affected him so deeply. None of it held any significance now. Those days were firmly entrenched in the past, incapable of repairing the chasm that had developed between us. The divide had grown too extensive.

With a sigh, I ran my fingers through my hair, attempting to banish these thoughts from my mind.
