Chapter 26

Iris POV:

They've been snoring on me for hours now and I've been stuck in this uncomfortable position not wanting to wake them up

This all feels like we're getting closer. Trauma bonding if you will

"Fucking hell" Reid groans rubbing at his neck. He looks up and he finds me looking

"Why are you still up and most importantly why did you not wake me up" he asked trying to stand but his knees gave out

"I'm a mama bear," I say smiling and he looks at me confused which makes me laugh

"Wasn't it uncomfortable?" he says standing and stretching his legs

"You guys fell asleep and I felt obliged to keep you safe"

"From what our nightmares," he says with a chuckle and I roll my eyes

"But uh thank you," he says sheepishly and I nod

"I'll go grab some water or snacks for when he wakes up," he says and then walks out. The door closes making Cole stir up

"So warm" he softly says holding onto me tighter

"How are you feeling," I ask wrapping my arms around him. I start rocking us side to side and he lets out a content sigh

"Surprisingly I feel okay, good even," he says surprised. The door opens and Reid walks back in with 3 bottles of water and sandwiches

"Hey, you're up. How are you feeling" Reid asked closing the door

"Uhm good that was probably the best sleep I ever had and you didn't even need to do thing" he says looking up at me and I smile fighting back tears

"I'm glad you should be okay soon. The effects of trauma therapy take time but it works" Reid says

"And how would you know" Cole asked sitting up and stretching his arms and neck

"I knew someone who struggled deeply with his but it uhm healed him," Reid says looking away and I can't help thinking about the moment in the hallway when he looked through us as if he was haunted. I know pain when I see it and I know that Reid's talking about himself

"You should eat something," Reid says tossing Cole a sandwich. He catches it and thanks him before unwrapping it and taking a bite

"I'll hand you yours," he says standing up and giving me mine

"Oh, what a gentleman," I say smiling. We all start eating and then there's dead silence

"We should all talk shouldn't we" Cole sighed

"Yeah," I said softly

"I have a proposition," Reid says and we look at him

"Let's try it out. The 6 months that we're here let's try to figure out how this will work and then if it works then it does" he says and then there's silence again because we're waiting for Cole to answer

"I understand all of this can be triggering for you but to stop the bickering between the two of you we should all just try. Just 6 months" he says trying to get through to Cole

"If we do this. I'm not doing this" Cole says and my heart stops.

"Are we-" I ask in a whisper and he cuts me off

"Never we are never. I meant Reid can date you but he's not dating me. So far sharing hasn't been too messy but Reid has to promise me" he said looking at Reid

"You need to promise me you won't hurt her and you're not doing this for pussy" he says and Reid glares at him

"I'm not I would never hurt either of you like that. I want. I want to try this. I'm not the easiest to talk to but I'll listen that I can do" Reid says
