Chapter 25

Cole POV:

"Cole...Cole" Iris yells rushing towards me with a bag filled with coconuts

"Careful," I say dropping my fishing net

"Hey I can leave right" I say to one of the fishermen and they nod. Rushing over to Iris I take the bag of coconuts from her but she's looking for something behind me

"What's wrong" I ask and her eyes continue to scan

"Where's Reid," she asked and I frowned

"He didn't show up so I figured he was coconut hunting with you," I say and she frowns

"No. No, he wasn't"

"Huh that's strange well I'm done here we go looking for him if you want," I say even though I also want to look for him. I mean I still hate the guy but I figured we could learn to be civil...friends even

"Yeah," Iris says grabbing my hand. We start walking back to the mansion. Walking through the door sounds of children laughing is the first thing we hear and then a deep chuckle that couldn't possibly come from a child

Iris lets go of my hand and walks towards the room first but then she stops in the doorway. Standing behind her I see what made her stop in her tracks

"Don't let the monster get you" Reid says chasing after the children and they scream

"We can save you," three boys say holding plastic swords and they start hitting Reid. He falls down roaring making all the kids laugh

"I'm dead I'm dead," he says when the kids don't stop hitting him. He grabs all three of them putting them on his shoulders and spinning them around.

They all start laughing and so do we. He stops spinning the kids and then he faces us almost as if his disappointed to see us. He tells the kids to go play with their toys and then steps toward us

"What are you guys doing here" he sternly asked

"We uh didn't see you outside so we came looking for you," Iris says and he scowls

"So what now I can't spend some time alone" he snarls. Iris takes a step back and I wrap an arm around her protectively

"What no we figured we'll be hanging out until you know we go to Cuba," Iris says and he sighs

"Well I'm extremely sorry for giving you that assumption," he says collecting toys and putting them away

"Besides you guys are a couple you should explore the island. I could arrange for one of the guards to organize a date spot" he says with his back to us. Iris looks at me with a hurt expression and I shake my head at her

"Oh okay well then we'll uh leave you to it," Iris says and then gets out of my grasp. I stand there looking disappointed in him

"Don't cowboy" he says holding up his hand and I sigh turning and walking away

"Iris wait," I say running after her

"Why is he acting like this" she asked spinning around to face me

"I really don't know princess but maybe he needs time I mean we're strangers in his mother's home. We don't know him and he doesn't know us" I say trying to reason with her because she looks stressed

"He does well he can Why don't we ask him if he wants to join us on our date so we can all get to know each other" she suggests getting ready to walk back to him but I hold out my arm

"What" she says and my eyebrows pinch together

"We can talk to him after our date. He clearly needs space" I say and she looks up at me confused
