The new set of lights wasn’t from a vehicle but rather individual flashlights, cutting through the darkness like laser beams. I squinted to discern the figures emerging from the shadows.

The tall, menacing stance of the Devourer, the sly agility of the Serpent, the sleek and silent approach of the Shadow Piercer, the tech-savvy Viper with his gadget-loaded gear, and the ruthless and cold-blooded Eliminator.
The Eviscerators had arrived, and it seemed they had known about our plans.

Juan's voice whispered in my earpiece, "They've intercepted our communication. Viper's work, no doubt. Stay alert."

Ji Woon's anxious voice broke through next, "They're spreading out. Looks like they're trying to flank us."

From her vantage point, Suha reported, "Eliminator and Devourer are moving toward the shipment vehicle. Shadow Piercer is trying to get to me, and the Serpent is on the move, probably aiming for a surprise attack."

Kyoto's voice was calm, "Let them come. They don't know about the traps. Not yet."

I gripped my weapon tightly. The night was no longer silent. The confrontation  was about to erupt.

A loud explosion echoed through the night, followed by the Serpent's shriek. One of Kyoto's traps had found its mark. "One down, four to go," Kyoto muttered.

The Viper was quick to respond, sending out an electromagnetic pulse. Juan's temporary tech station flickered, went dark, and then rebooted. "Damn it! We've lost the advantage!" Juan cursed.

Shadow Piercer moved stealthily, trying to disarm Suha from her position, but a well-timed bullet whizzed past him, forcing him to retreat.

The Eliminator and the Devourer, in the meantime, had reached the shipment vehicle.

The confrontation was escalating rapidly. The two heavyweights, Eliminator and Devourer, had already breached the shipment vehicle. Suha took aim, but the Devourer sensed her focus and used the vehicle as a shield, dodging her shot.

I tried to circle around the Eviscerators, hoping to find an opening to take them by surprise. Ji Woon was close by, his surveillance tech now rendered useless due to the Viper's pulse.

Suddenly, the road illuminated with brilliant white lights. Kyoto's traps detonated in quick succession, creating a smoke screen and momentarily disorienting the Eviscerators. I seized the opportunity and launched an assault on the Shadow Piercer, but he was quick, his reflexes honed from years of training. He landed a solid blow to my side, knocking the wind out of me.

Juan, recovering from the effects of the electromagnetic pulse, sent out a distress signal. Suha took another shot, this time aiming for the Serpent, but missed as he dodged and darted towards Juan. Within moments, the Serpent had Juan pinned, his venomous gaze holding Juan in a paralyzing grip.

Things were looking bleak for us. The Devourer had managed to get the shipment vehicle moving, while the Eliminator, with his deadly precision, incapacitated Kyoto with a dart to the leg.

Ji Woon tried to intervene, lunging at the Eliminator, but the Shadow Piercer was already upon him, taking him down with a swift move.

We were scattered, outplayed, and outnumbered. The Eviscerators were every bit the legends they were made out to be. Just when we thought all hope was lost, Kyoto, with his last ounce of strength, triggered a final trap.
A blinding light enveloped the scene. When it cleared, the shipment vehicle had veered off the road, crashing into the woods. But the drugs were gone, and so were the Eviscerators.

Defeated and bruised, we regrouped. The watch showed 1.03am, we scoured the crash site.

Juan, rubbing his sore neck, approached me.

Ji Woon coughed out the words, "they got away"

I noticed Suha descending from her  tree perch, her sniper slung over her shoulder. She approached us, admiration clearly in her voice, "You've got to admit, they're incredible... especially the Eliminator and Devourer... I mean, wow-"

"Suha, we're in a bad position here and you're singing their praises?" Kyoto interjected with a hint of pain in his voice.

Blinking slowly, I murmured, "Their skills are undeniable. It's been ages since I've been outmaneuvered like this, but they just..."
