Amidst the tension, Mitchell's accusations lingered, casting a shadow over my thoughts. As emotions swirled within me, The base's familiar hum couldn't drown out the echoes of his words. It felt like a storm brewing within me.

Just as I tried to process this, my phone buzzed with an unknown number. An unexpected call, possibly from Ju Yan or Rein, added another layer of suspense. With a mix of anticipation and trepidation, I answered, only to hear Zaerim's voice on the other end.

Zaerim's voice was smooth, carrying a hint of amusement. "Nara, my dear, it seems you're in quite the predicament. Mitchell doesn't seem to appreciate your endeavors."

I tightened my grip on the phone, my frustration evident. "What do you want, Zaerim? I have no time for your games."

He chuckled, "Games, Nara? I prefer to call it a dance of fate. I heard about your little meeting with the chief. Quite the twist in the plot, isn't it?"

Suppressing my irritation, I demanded, "Cut to the chase, Zaerim. Why are you calling?"

He chuckled, his tone suggestive. "I have information that might interest you. "

My skepticism was palpable as I questioned, "Why would you share this with me?"

Zaerim's response was cryptic, " It seems the plot thickens, and you find yourself entangled in a web of conflicting interests."

My patience was waning, I demanded, "Cut the cryptic talk, Zaerim. What's your angle in all of this? What do you want?"

His tone turned more serious, "Let's just say our interests align, at least for now. You're a pawn in a much larger game, and whether you like it or not, you'll have to dance to its tune."

I shot back, "I don't make deals with manipulative snakes like you, Zaerim."

His laughter echoed through the phone, "Ah, Nara, you underestimate the value of alliances in this intricate dance. The Phoenix Syndicate can be a powerful ally, or a formidable foe. Choose wisely."

I scoffed, "I don't need allies like you. We'll uncover the truth and bring justice without your interference."

Zaerim's tone turned serious, "Nara, you're playing a dangerous game, and Mitchell is just a pawn in a larger scheme. Be mindful of the moves you make."

I retorted, "I won't be manipulated by you or anyone else, and I won't let anyone interfere."

Out of nowhere, he uttered, "You're just like your father, no different." It left me utterly speechless. First, Mitchell voiced it, and now Zaerim echoed the sentiment.

I ended the call as I heard the words from his mouth, leaving me with a sense of unease. Zaerim's involvement added another layer of complexity to the already intricate web of alliances and betrayals.

As I contemplated the unfolding events, Suha approached, her concern evident. "Who was that?"

I sighed, "Zaerim. He seems to be enjoying the chaos, playing his own game in the background."

As I grappled with Zaerim's cryptic words, doubt crept into my mind. Mitchell's accusations, Zaerim's insinuations – The weight of uncertainty bore down on me, and a tear escaped, betraying the turmoil within.

Suha, sensing my distress, asked softly, "What's happening, Nara? Why did Zaerim's call affect you so deeply?Nara, what did he say? You look shaken."

I hesitated before sharing, "He... he mentioned my father. Said I'm just like him."

Suha's expression shifted from concern to understanding. "Nara, don't let Zaerim's words get to you. You know your father's legacy, and you're nothing like what he's implying."
