As Ji Woon and I delved into the old case files, the days turned into nights, and frustration mounted as our search yielded no substantial leads. The room became a makeshift command center, scattered with papers and digital displays.

Suha, Kyoto, and Juan were managing the ongoing threats from both the Eviscerators and the Phoenix Syndicate, their efforts strained as the situation escalated.

The chief's calls went unanswered, the urgency of our current situation conflicting with our commitment to uncover the truth from the past. Kyoto, growing increasingly concerned, approached Juan during a brief respite.

"Juan, what's going on with Nara and Ji Woon? The chief has been trying to reach them non-stop," Kyoto inquired.

Juan sighed, his eyes fixed on the code scrolling across the screen. "They're knee-deep in the old case files, trying to find connections that might shed light on our current predicament. It's a long shot, but Nara believes there's something we've missed."

Kyoto, though understanding, expressed her worries. "The chief is getting impatient. We need a comprehensive report to address the escalating situation with the Eviscerators and the Phoenix Syndicate. We can't afford to leave any loose ends."

Juan nodded in acknowledgment. "I'll try to get them to answer the chief's calls, but they're deeply engrossed in this investigation."

JUAN'S POV:

Instantly  Kyoto inquire about Nara's family, a topic that had been veiled in mystery. "Juan, what happened to Nara's family? I've always sensed a pain in her eyes when it comes to her past."

I took a moment before responding, choosing my words carefully. "Nara's father was a high-ranking military official involved in covert operations. He did some questionable things that eventually caught up with him in a targeted encounter."

Kyoto's eyes widened with realization. "And her brother?"

"He was working in the military too. Suddenly went missing, only to be found dead after a few months. It was a painful blow for Nara," I explained. "Her mother, unfortunately, met a similar fate in her father's encounter. The scars from her past run deep."

Kyoto's expression softened, empathy evident in his eyes. "I had no idea. No wonder she's so determined.... It's more than just a case for her; it's personal."

Ji Woon and I continued our relentless pursuit of information. Frustration crept in as we hit dead end after dead end. The weight of the unanswered questions about Rein, my brother, and the Eviscerators pressed down on me, fueling my determination.

As we immersed ourselves in the investigation, the chief's calls persisted. Ignoring them became increasingly difficult, but we couldn't afford distractions. Our focus remained on unraveling the past, hoping to find the missing links that could make sense of the chaos surrounding us.

One evening, as the room dimmed with the fading daylight, Juan approached us. "Nara, Ji Woon, the chief is getting impatient. You need to answer his calls and provide an update. The Eviscerators and the Phoenix Syndicate are gaining ground, and we can't afford to be out of the loop."

I sighed, feeling torn between the urgency of the present and the unresolved mysteries of the past. "Tell the chief we'll call back soon. We're on the verge of something; I can feel it."

Juan hesitated but eventually nodded, understanding the gravity of our pursuit. "Just make it quick. The chief needs to know what's happening."

As Juan left, Ji Woon glanced at me. "We're running out of time, Nara. Maybe it's time to reassess our approach. We've been through every file, and there's nothing substantial."

I nodded, acknowledging the reality of our situation. "You're right. We need to shift our focus, find a new angle. Let's take a break, clear our minds, and come back with fresh eyes."

As we stepped outside the room, the gravity of the ongoing crisis hit us. The base was in a heightened state of alert, and the atmosphere was charged with tension. Suha, Kyoto, and Juan were managing the escalating threats as best as they could, but the pressure was mounting.

Amidst the chaos, Ji Woon and I found a quiet corner to regroup. I finally decided to return the chief's call, knowing we couldn't delay any longer.

The chief's voice was stern as he demanded an update. I explained our lack of progress in the past week, the dead ends, and the frustration that accompanied our efforts. The chief listened intently, his patience wearing thin.

"Enough, Nara. The Eviscerators and the Phoenix Syndicate won't wait for us to solve the mysteries. I need a comprehensive report on the current situation, and I need it now."

I took a deep breath, acknowledging the chief's urgency. "Yeah....we will do it."

The chief sighed, the weight of responsibility evident in his voice. "Fine, Nara, We're running out of time, and every moment counts."

As the call ended, Ji Woon and I returned to the room with a renewed sense of purpose. We shared the chief's concerns with the others and decided to reallocate our efforts, balancing the pursuit of the past with the urgency of the present.

Juan continued his relentless efforts to decode Zaerim's drive, the key to unraveling the Eviscerators' plans. Suha and Kyoto intensified their strategic approach against both the Eviscerators and the Phoenix Syndicate. Ji Woon and I revisited the case files, this time looking for patterns and connections we might have overlooked.

As I leaned on the chair, fatigue settling in, Ji Woon's concerned voice cut through the room. "Nara, don't be this hard on yourself. We're all doing our best, and we'll get through this together."

His words offered a momentary comfort, but my mind was restless. I closed my eyes, attempting to clear the mental fog that had accumulated during our relentless pursuit of answers. In that moment of introspection, the memories of a past encounter with the Eviscerators resurfaced.

I vividly recalled the fight with Ivan, Rein, and the others. It was a battle that had pushed us to the brink, and I had a chilling flashback of a wound to the neck that nearly claimed my life. The pain, the desperation—it was etched in my memory.

As the flashback unfolded, I found myself transported to that critical moment. The stinging pain in my neck, the struggle for breath, and the blurred faces of the Eviscerators engaged in the brutal conflict played out in my mind.

Suddenly, I snapped back to the present as Ji Woon gently shook me awake. "Nara, are you okay?"

I took a moment to collect myself, realizing the toll our past encounters had taken on me. I stood up, feeling the weight of the unresolved mysteries and the ongoing threats pressing down.

"I need to wash my face," I muttered, needing a physical act to ground myself. As I splashed water on my face, the cool sensation brought a momentary clarity.

It was then that a crucial realization hit me. Amidst the chaos, I had forgotten about the individuals the Eviscerators had executed—their victims. I hurried back to Ji Woon, urgency in my voice.

"Ji Woon, we need to gather information on the ones the Eviscerators executed. We might find a pattern, a connection that can lead us to their motives. Ask Juan to compile all available data on those victims."

Ji Woon nodded, recognizing the significance of the revelation. "You're right, Nara. It could be a key piece of the puzzle. I'll inform Juan immediately."

As Ji Woon relayed the task to Juan, the room buzzed with a renewed sense of purpose. Each of us focused on our assigned roles—decoding the drive, strategizing against the Eviscerators and the Phoenix Syndicate, and now, investigating the victims.
