Nathan's pov:
Me and Ella were enjoying a romantic movie at home, when suddenly Ella's phone rang, and she answered it. It was a long phone call, and Ellaa's facial expression slowly changed from happiness to sadness.
I looked over at Ella, who was holding back tears, and I put my arm around her. She was trying to stay strong but the tears started falling down her cheeks, and I gently wiped the tears away.
"What's wrong? What happened, love?" I ask worried about Ella's wellbeing.
She hangs up, " she's dead , my mother is dead" she mumbles
She was heartbroken, she had gotten the news of her mother's passing over a phone call. I held her close to comfort her, and Ella was grateful to have him there with her.
After Ella calmed down, I asked
"When is the funeral?""Never" she utters heartlessly.
"What do you mean?" I ask confused and startled at her reply.
"She doesn't deserve to be put to death the correct way" she says.
"Why?" I ask terrified of Ella's reply.
"She abused me my whole life. I won't suffer seeing her put to death in front of my eyes" she replied honestly.
"What? She abused you how?" I ask disapointed at the person Ella's mother turned out to be.
"She hit me all the time for no reason ,but beforehand she always asked me what tool I wanted her to use on me. It's funny I had a choice, it was either the belt or slipper or her hands and tall nails or she sometimes even burned me when she was drunk out of control" she explains.
I was so shocked at Ella's childhood, I have always thought that she had the perfect life ,but now it doesn't seem so. Despite feeling the need to claw out of my skin when hearing what that woman did, I still allow Ella to continue letting it all out and expressing her feelings using words.
"She locked me up for days at a time, weeks even, without any food or water and with nothing to do as well as no bathroom to use" she continued.
"And despite everything she did to me, when she fell ill I was the one right by her, helping her survive. Those drug dealers that she called friends were never there, I was" she cried out.
"It's okay, love, shhh, calm down and try to take deep breathes. I'm sorry this happened to you and we'll do whatever you see is right about that woman's funeral" I say trying to get her to calm down and not have a panic attack because she seems way too close to that.
She does what I said and tries to calm down. "Thank you for being here" she whispered through her tears."thank you" she repeats.
"Love, I'll always be here for you, no need to thank me" I reply.
She sobs into my chest as I try to understand all the new information she gave me. How the hell has she been abused for so long? Even most of her childhood. I wish I knew her back then so I could've protected her from any harm. She would've been safe in my arms.
After a while, she calmed down and said " I'm going to let them bury her, I'm not putting effort into a funeral she doesn't even deserve. Let her drug dealer friends do that for her, they won't need me to help".
She called the hospital and explained how a funeral won't be necessary and that they can just go ahead and bury her directly.
She layed into me and i whispered sweet nothings into her ear trying to somehow cheer her up.
"I'm sorry for your loss, love" I said.
"Not a loss" she whispered." I'm finally free from all the pain and trauma that woman caused me. She ruined my life, but I won't allow her to ruin it any further".
I hugged her tightly until she fell asleep in my arms snoring cutely. I carried her to our room and put her to bed. I layed down next to her and held her in my arms.
I wish I could ease her pain. If i could take away all her pain and put a smile on her face, I promise you I would.
