Love in the theater

Chapter 2

Loretta and Babette arrived at around 8pm

"Gosh it's so big, do you think we'll find the door after some drinks?" Loretta said a bit nervously, walking to the door

"You know that you're acting completely crazy? Of course we'll find a way to go out of here and I'll maybe even find a man to help me find the way out" Babette smirked

"Yeah yeah first maybe try to concentrate on Grace's birthday party then you'll see" Loretta rolled her eyes

"Oh don't worry, I will but with a man"

"OKAY enough of your men, let's walk in" Loretta started to walk closer to the door, still a bit nervous

Babette opened the door and they started walking in. The place was full of people talking, drinking etc
They immediately tried to find someone they knew but they didn't recognize anyone.

"Okay I'm gonna go to the bar, do you want a drink or something?" Babette asked

"Hum no I'm good thanks.. hum wait maybe a coke or something" Loretta answered with a smile

"Oh gosh Loretta are you serious? We aren't at a 9 years old's birthday party" Babette rolled her eyes

"Okay great then maybe wine or something" Loretta said as she saw Babette immediately going to the bar to take their drinks.
She was still standing in the entry way, alone. She didn't know why but this place was making her nervous so she turned her head to look all around her and decided to join Babette at the bar

When Loretta arrived where the bar was, she saw Babette talking to a group of people that she didn't know so she walked to them.

"Oh hey!" Babette said when she saw Loretta walking to her

"Hi!" Loretta said, smiling

"Guys, this is Loretta my roommate. Loretta, these are my friends, Mary, Amanda, Richard and Roberta" Babette said, smiling back at her

"Oh nice to meet you all guys, since when do you know each other?"

"Since high school, we were all great friends" a strange guy said

"Oliver you're here! Loretta, this is Oliver, the last guy of our friends group" Babette said as she immediately hugged Oliver

"Hey nice to meet you, Miss Loretta. So I take it you're new here" Oliver smiled at her

"Nice to meet you too! Hum well i'm Babette's roommate" Loretta said with an embarrassed smile

"Babette!! Why did you introduce us to Loretta before?" Oliver said exasperated

"Well we don't see you a lot anymore, you're always gone! When did you want me to do that?"

"I have a job now, you know that"

"And you're literally the only one in this group to have one" Mary said as everybody started laughing

"Where do you work?" Loretta suddenly started being interested in Oliver

"I work in a theater" Oliver smiled widely at her, very surprised to see someone having so much interest in him

"You're like an actor or you clean?" Loretta asked looking in his eyes still smiling

Oliver immediately started laughing he thought she was cute

"no I'm not an actor or the guy who comes to clean, I'm a director" Oliver said, still laughing

"OH MY GOD! I'm sorry, that's such a great job, I envy you" she started being nervous again and started blushing

Oliver immediately saw she was nervous, he was used to that with the actors he worked with but this time it was somewhat.. different

"Oh yeah yeah that's a great job but not all the time, it's really exciting etc but sometimes a bit stressing. I'm sure yours is better than mine" he continued to smile to try to put her at ease

"I don't really have a job, I keep auditioning but no one accepted me for the moment"

"So I take it you're an actress right?"

"Well at least I'm trying to be" she chuckled

Oliver thought it was interesting, there was something different about Loretta, he had only talked to her for 5 minutes but he was so interested in every word she spoke.

"Hey you know what, soon I'm gonna start the auditions for a new play. Are you interested?" he smiled at her, immediately seeing the excitement in her eyes

"OH that would be an honor, I don't know how to thank you" Loretta said, shocked, she only knew this man since 5 minutes and he was already offering her a job

"Nice, it's on Monday, 10:30am"

"I'll be there" Loretta smiled

"Hey guys!!! We are still here" Babette said waving her hand in front of them

"Oh yeah of course, I'm sorry" Loretta immediately said

"Don't be and I'm used to it you know, you're always talking about work so what's new?" Babette chuckled

After talking with Babette's friends, Loretta decided to go outside for some minutes.
She suddenly heard people arguing not far from where she was.

"What's your fucking problem?" she heard a guy say, the voice sounded like Oliver's

"MY problem? MINE? Are you kidding? So you think that asking a random girl that you don't even know to audition for your play is normal?" she heard a woman say but she didn't recognize her voice

"Yes Roberta! It is! I even casted you once" Oliver started to get angry

"Yeah but Oliver, that's different! We were friends, you knew me but you don't know her" Roberta looked like she could kill him

"Yes you're right I don't know her very well but I still don't know what's the problem with that"

"Maybe she's just a slut once again, who'll try anything to get the job!"

"Are you out of your mind? Why would she be like that? I'm sure she's not and she looks like she's a hard-working person" Oliver immediately defended Loretta which made her smile but with Roberta's next words, her smiles quickly faded.

"Have you seen her? She is dressed like a whore! This red dress with the opening on the side, I'm sorry but you're really blind if you don't see it"

Some tears started to fall on Loretta's cheeks but she decided to keep listening

"I don't understand you anymore! You act like that everytime I cast a new girl and that can't continue, I'm sorry" Loretta immediately backed against the wall and tried to look away when she heard Oliver coming her way

"Oh hi, you're still here" Oliver said as he tried to smile

Loretta immediately turned around when she heard him

"Hey, yes I'm waiting for Babette" she also tried to smile and hide her tears

"Hey hey come here" Oliver said as he put his hands on her shoulders "what's wrong? Have you been crying?" he immediately started to worry

"No no it's nothing, don't worry" Loretta tried to walk away

"Then if you don't want to talk about it it's okay but if you need to I'm here" he smiled at her

"Thanks" she smiled back at him and walked back in to try to find Babette and go back home as quickly as possible, all she wanted to do was cry.
