A/N: Hey besties, it's been a while - hasn't it? To tell you the truth, I largely lost inspiration for this story for a while but I'm back! After watching the first episode of the Daryl spinoff show, I instantly got inspiration to write so I'm getting back to it and I am so excited.

I am so sorry for the long wait for updates, and I really do appreciate anyone who has stuck around to read on!

Without further ado, enjoy this new chapter because I promise - It's a really cute Alison and Daryl chapter!

-

Alison and Daryl began on foot, heading to the back end of the property to see if they could pick up the trail of where her car could have gone or something. The Swan property was huge, there were stables and outhouses on the grounds that were all worth checking. Alison knew how much Lucy hated the big house, especially after what she found out so it made sense that she wouldn't choose to stay there, but maybe one of the smaller buildings.

Ali kept looking down, pretending that she knew the difference between the markings on the ground while Daryl actually examined them to see if any of them possibly could be Lucy. Alison kept an arrow to her bow at all times in case of any trouble, while Daryl kept his crossbow loaded.

"Anything?" Alison asked nervously for the sixth time that hour.

Truthfully, Daryl was getting frustrated with her questioning but remained patient. Although he had said he was done with looking for people, Lucy Swan was the only exception. He had a promise to keep and he liked to think he was a man of his word. Instead of being rude in response to her question, he simply shook his head and muttered "Nah."

Ali nodded in return as the pair continued walking in tandem.

"Look at these" Daryl said, beckoning Alison to look down at the tracks on the ground "Time for a real lesson, what kind of tracks do you think these are?" He asked her.

Alison bent down, looking at the markings in the mud for a moment before shrugging "I don't know, maybe an animal of some sort?" She replied "A deer?" She questioned.

Daryl shook his head "Nah, deer run fast usually and when they aren't runnin', they stand still so the tracks would either be perfectly formed or not formed at all." He began "Marking's like these would have come from a cow or something." He stated, to which Alison nodded as she took another look at the tracks in hopes of remembering their appearance for future reference.

"So, before this all happened, were you a boy scout instructor or something?" Alison asked with a lighthearted tone, genuinely curious as to how he had all of this knowledge of the outdoors.

"Nah." Daryl replied bluntly as the two of them walked further "But you were definitely a girl scout" He scoffed, to which Alison turned to him with a smile.

"You aren't entirely wrong" Ali began "But I didn't last long, Luce and I were in the same group but we kicked out.. guess we asked too many annoying questions or something" She chuckled, reminiscing about the way life used to be.

He chuckled, intrigued as to what kind of life Alison and her family must have led before the fall. Seeing the place she grew up in only solidified his knowledge that if it weren't for the outbreak, the two of them probably would have never met. Even though he didn't know her too well yet, he was beginning to. Ali had a ways to go in terms of protecting herself and learning how to fend for herself in the new world but she had spirit, which meant that out of everyone - she was tolerable.

While trekking through the woods, Alison and Daryl luckily didn't encounter many walkers or any people and the undead that they did stumble across were few in numbers so they took it in turns taking them out.
