Rick and Daryl soon enough returned empty handed however with big news. With the news buzzing in the air everyone got their weapons in hand, ready to use what little energy they had left to finally secure a place that may be safe. It was always a maybe. Never a definite.

Carefully the group made their way across the open field that was home to walkers, taking them out with knives and other weapons they had found on the way. William held his trident tightly in his grasp while Ali picked off the walkers with her bow.

Rick cut through the fence while everyone held a circle formation to cover him, they had gotten good at this the past month on the road. Once the first outer fence of the prison was cut, the group quickly made their way in, walkers coming from all directions.

All together the group ran round the perimeter, walkers lunging their way only to be met with an internal fence. The bloodthirsty groans filled the air, it likely being the first hint of fresh meat they had since the fall.

They slowed to a halt at the entrance to the yard, the boiling spring sun beating down on their already fragile bodies. "It's perfect" Rick spoke as he admired what could be their future home. "If we can shut that gate, prevent more from filling the yard, we can pick off the walkers. We'll take the field by tonight"

"So how do we shut the gate?" Hershal asked Rick.

"I'll do it" Glenn spoke up "You guys cover me"

"No. It's a suicide run" Maggie interjected.

"I'm the fastest" Glenn spoke out of breath.

William rolled his eyes, his jealousy getting the better of him.

"No, you, Maggie and Beth draw as many as you can over there" He spoke, pointing up towards the prison. "Pop 'em through the fence. Daryl and Ali, go back to the other tower. Carol, you've become a pretty good shot. Take your time. We don't have a lot of ammo to waste. Hershal, you and Carl take this tower. William, you good to come with me to the gate?" He spoke, giving everyone their instructions to which they followed.

William side eyed the couple before glancing at Rick, "Yeah, I've got your back."

With everyone in their positions, William and Rick prepared themselves for the run. Yells from the group sounded as they drew the walkers attention their way, giving William and Rick a shot at closing the gate.

Ali followed Daryl up to the tower, the pair of them aiming their silent weapons down to the courtyard. Although the scene was busy, Ali didn't find the task too challenging. The main thing she had to worry about was hitting her brother with an arrow, although it wouldn't be the first time.

Rick took the lead as they made their way into the yard. After they passed the overturned bus they took the chance to make a run for it. Rick let out a few shots, dropping the walkers that were too close to the pair. William used his trident, shoving the tips into the skull of a walker dressed in prison attire.

Ali kept her eyes peeled, making sure that none got too close to her brother, however while his back was turned taking care of a walker, one became too close for her liking. She took a deep breath before releasing the arrow, it flying through the air at an ungodly speed before landing in the head of the walker, blood splatting across his stained white t-shirt.

William looked up to his sister, smiling softly, as he continued on the run and gave her a quick thumbs up for the save.

As Rick and William were only inches from the fence, a bullet hit just in front of their feet. Both their eyes instantly darted towards the likely culprit who yelled a sarcastic "Sorry", which merely caused William to chuckle. William loved Carol, she was a sweet and strong women, something that he wished his mother was, but Carol was becoming a mother figure not only to him, but the entire group
