**AUTUMN POV**

I woke up with a splitting headache and bright florescent lights in my eyes making me cover my eyes quickly.

"Can we turn the lights off please?" I moaned. I heard someone get up and fade the lights.

"There you go..." I heard the voice say and I uncovered my eyes to see Steve sitting there.

"Steve?" I asked confused.

"Good to see you awake." Steve smirked and I groaned.

"What happened?" I asked. I struggled to sit up and Steve helped me get up.

"I was driving past the patch and noticed your car there way after hours. When I came looking for you, I found you on the trail knocked out. It looks like you hit your head pretty good." Steve explained. I just looked at him confused.

"Hit my head...on what?" I asked confused.

"I'm not sure, I just found you on the ground. I wasn't even sure how long you had been out when I found you." Steve said. I then felt very queasy. I reached for the basin and Steve gently rubbed my back as I sat up getting sick.

"Concussion..." I groaned. I laid back down.

"Aunt Autumn?!" I heard a small voice say from the door and I looked to see Garrett standing there with John. Both having a concerned look on their faces.

"Hey you two." I said forcing a smile and sitting back up. Garrett came over and hugged me. I looked at John and he was just hanging his head.

"I'm so sorry this happened Autumn." John said and I slightly shook my head.

"You didn't do this to me John, actually I don't know if anyone did or if I just hit my head..." I said and John groaned.

"Why were you back that far alone?"

"Because I was checking the lights before I left. Thor forgot, you were gone. I thought I could just get on an ATV and go check it out." I said and John just half sighed.

"Well, no more staying there alone at night." John said.

"Then no more leaving and not telling anyone. In fact, no more leaving people on the side of the road you asshole!" I said pissed off.

"Hey! You were being a bitch."

"YOU ACCUSED ME OF MURDER!" I yelled and then instantly got dizzy and sick again. Steve handed me the basin again.

"John, I think if you are just going to be here and cause drama and trouble. You might just want to leave." Steve spoke up. John looked at him huffing a laugh.

"Who the fuck are you? Her bodyguard, protector...?" John trailed off.

"I'm the guy who cared enough when I drove past still seeing her car I stopped. With the blood lose she was suffering from she would have been dead by tomorrow morning." Steve said and I gasped as he looked at me. "I'm sorry, I was waiting for the doctor to come in and tell you." Steve said and I slightly shook my head.

"No, I needed to know." I said and he sighed. At that time the doctor came walking in with Detective Fury and Detective Stark with an officer, Sam Wilson.

"Miss Walker, are you able to answer some questions for us?" Stark asked and I sighed rubbing my head.

"Maybe this can wait..." The doctor said and I shook my head.

"No, I want to get this done as soon as possible and find out who hit me." I said.

"We already have someone in custody Miss Walker." The office spoke up and I looked at him as he looked at Steve. "Hey Steve."

"Hey Sam." Steve said, and I looked between them. "We are all friends. Sam is going to be Bucky's best man." Steve continued and I nodded.

"Anyways, you said you captured someone?" John interrupted their interaction. Sam looked back at me and John. He then looked at Garrett.

"Should he be here?" He asked and I looked at Garrett sitting on the side of my bed.

"Hey, John, give him a couple bucks to go to the vending machine please." I said. John gave him some money and he walked out of the room, and I heard a nurse offer to take him to the vending machines.

"Okay, who was it?" I asked tired of waiting.

"Does the name Karli Morgenthau mean anything to either of you?" Sam asked.

"No..." I said.

"Who is she?" John asked.

"She is a homeless woman who was living in the woods next to the trail. She was caught with the shovel that hit you on the head and your blood was found on it. She said she stayed there to get pumpkins and apples for food. She swears she didn't hit you with the shovel and just saw you lying on the ground with the shovel beside you." Stark explained reading from his notes. I looked at John and sighed.

"A homeless person..." I said and he groaned.

"Perfect, now they are taking more profits." John growled.

"Shouldn't you be more worried about them hurting your sister?" Steve said and John snapped to look at him.

"I'm happy my sister is okay! God knows if she died, I don't know what I would do with my life since everyone leaves me. But I also have a job to lead and a life to make." John said and I watched him storm out of the room.

"Can you remember anything else from last night Autumn?" Fury asked, not caring about John leaving. I rubbed my head as I thought about it.

"Autumn, you want some headache medicine?" The doctor asked and I shook my head.

"No, I'm fine. All I remember is I went to check the lights. There were some that were out, so I was making a note of it on my phone and that's when I was hit. Next thing I remember is waking up here." I remembered. They all took notes.

"Well like we said, we arrested the homeless lady, and she will be charged with attempted murder." Stark said and I just slightly nodded.

"Okay well at least that's closed." I said and everyone nodded. I looked at Steve and he was just looking at John.

"Steve?" I asked and she shook his head.

"I'm just happy I was driving by. Maybe don't stay alone anymore though." Steve said and I smiled at him.

"Okay everyone out. Miss Walker needs her rest." The doctor said and John walked over kissed my forehead and left. Detective Fury, Detective Stark and Officer Wilson left. I looked at Steve as he got up and I grabbed his arm.

"Do you think you could maybe stay? I don't want to be alone." I questioned. Steve looked at the doctor and he gave a small nodded.

"You can stay just let her rest." The doctor said and walked out. Steve looked at me as he sat back down.

"Okay, you heard the man. Time to rest." Steve said and we both laughed. I closed my eyes trying to fall asleep and remember anything else about getting hit.
