It was a few days after the whole issue with John, my cheek was nice and bruised but I was able to cover it up with some make-up. It was the day of the bachelorette get together at Nat's house. I brought I couple bottles of wine for all of us to enjoy. I didn't know who in all would be here, but I figured we could all just have some fun. I knocked and the door was flung open by Nat.

"Hey! I'm so happy you could make it!" Nat said and hugged me. I smiled as she did and accepted her hug. "I heard about you and Steve..." Nat whispered as she shut the door after we broke apart.

"I don't want to talk about Steve, if possible, Nat, please..." I said and she nodded. She ushered me to the dining room, and I saw some woman already sitting around the table working on various things.

"Ladies, I would like you to meet the godsend lifesaver Autumn Walker. We are getting married at her family's pumpkin patch. Autumn, I would like you to meet Bucky's sister Rebecca, my cousin Maria Hill, and last but not least my baby sister Yelena." She introduced everyone and I smiled.

"Nice to meet all of you." I said they all smiled. Nat took the wine bottles from me and smiled.

"This stuff is the best." Nat said and I nodded as she walked into the kitchen to get some wine glasses.

"So, you own Walker Pumpkin Patch?" Maria asked.

"Yes, with my brother John." I said and everyone looked at each other.

"His wife went missing..." Maria trailed off and I sighed but nodded.

"She did it was a major loss to the entire family. We just want answers." I said and Nat came walking back in handing me a glass of wine.

"Okay not more sad talk. We are here to do the girliest things. I want us to work on making some jewelry and then I have pizza on its way which is when we get in our pajamas and we all just eat pizza and watch some chick flicks." Nat said and we all smiled. I was grateful for this distraction.

We all sat around making some bracelets, necklaces, earrings. Nat and Yelena worked on their wedding jewelry.

"So essentially you'll have to be at the wedding, right Autumn?" Yelena asked and I nodded.

"Yes, but taking a backseat view. I'm just there to make sure everything runs smoothly for the big day." I said and Nat looked upset.

"So, you won't be participating?" Nat asked and I shook my head.

"I never really do when there an event. It's not about me enjoying myself. It's to make sure the couple is happy, and everything is running smoothly." I said.

"Well, what if you dancing and having a good time would make the couple happy?" Nat asked as we all laughed.

"Well, I mean then I guess I would have to comply." I said and Nat nudged me, and I smiled.

"And do you have a hunky boyfriend to be your date?" Rebecca asked and giggled. I just half smiled.

"Um..." I said and got flustered.

"Autumn and Steve are kind of dating..." Nat spoke up and everyone looked at me shocked.

"You and Steve?! Steve finally found someone!" Maria said and all the girls nodded, and I just looked at Nat.

"What does that even mean?" I asked.

"Steve hasn't dated in a while. Steve and Emily broke up about 5 months ago. They weren't perfect together, but they felt like they had to be together. She was involved in one of his private investigating cases and lied to him about it." Rebecca offered up and I looked at Nat. She sighed and shook her head. She knew exactly why Steve and I weren't talking and now I had to worry.

"Wait his ex Emily was part of his case?" I asked.

"Yeah, I guess she was like best friends with the victim or something. She didn't even know Steve was working on the case until Bucky called her cellphone number not knowing it." Yelena said and I sighed.

"Oh wow, poor Steve." I said.

"Yeah, they weren't very compatible anyways. When they broke up neither was really that upset." Maria said and everyone except me nodded in agreement. I just sat there working on the earrings I was making that I knew would go with the outfit I was wearing to the wedding.

A couple of hours later I changed into the pajamas I brought. Nat had changed everything to a sleepover at the last minute, but I loved the idea. I knew we were also planning on getting brunch in the morning. I was sleeping in shorts and Steve's t-shirt I still had. I had gone home in his shirt when I left in the middle of the night, and I hadn't been able to stop sleeping in it or with it most nights. I missed Steve but after finding out what I did tonight about his ex being in another investigation months ago I didn't know what to do.

We were all downstairs now in the living room under some blankets and we opted for a scary movie instead of a chick flick. I mean it was near Halloween after all. Halfway through the first movie the door opened causing us all to jump and Maria even squealed. We all looked and saw Bucky and Steve come walking in the door. Steve and my eyes instantly locked.

"We bring food!" Bucky announced. My eyes never left Steves and Steves never left mine. Nat noticed and sighed.

"Thanks Bucky, I didn't know you were bringing it." Nat said.

"I had to come home and get some files I left here, and I met the pizza guy at the door." Bucky said.

"Oh well thank you. You can get your files and go, it's girls' night." Nat said and Bucky nodded. Yelena, who was sitting next to me nudged my shoulder and slightly motioned to Steve with her head, she wanted me to talk to him. He was respecting my no talking rule now, but it was killing him. I sighed and looked at Steve.

"Can we talk?" I asked him and he nodded. I looked at Nat. "Can we talk in your room?" I asked and she nodded. I looked at Steve and he followed me to Nat's downstairs bedroom. I closed the door once inside and Steve looked at me giving a small smirk.

"You're still wearing my shirt." Steve said and I sighed looking down at the shirt.

"Well, I needed some form of you still with me. Steve, I still don't know if I'm ready." I said and he sighed. We were keeping a good distance from each other, but Steve took one step closer.

"I know you need time Autumn, but I miss you. It's been days." Steve said and I half nodded.

"I know but Steve, you didn't tell me the truth. You didn't tell me why you knew my family. You didn't even tell me about the ex-girlfriend who was part of an old case." I said and Steve sighed.

"Who told you about Emily?" Steve asked.

"We talked tonight. They told me everything Steve. I know you didn't know she was involved until Bucky called her. It's almost like what we have now. I mean you didn't know me when Olivia's family contacted you. I know I shouldn't still be mad, but I just wish you had been honest." I said and Steve half nodded taking another step to me. I didn't stop him when he reached me, lifted a hand and placed it on my cheek. He was gently rubbing his thumb over my cheek. He then stopped noticing something.

"Autumn, you took off all your make-up except on the cheek. What is going on?" Steve asked.

"I just forgot..." I lied.

"Autumn..." Steve groaned, going into Nat's connecting bathroom and getting a washcloth. I let him gently rub my cheek as he washed the make-up off. The bruise appeared and I saw Steve's demeanor change and his eyes flick to dark.

"Who did this to you?" He asked in a low voice.

"Steve..."

"Who Autumn?!"

"John." I said as tears pooled in my eyes.

Steve went to leave the bedroom. "I'm going to kill him..." Steve said, and I stopped him before he could leave the room.

"Steve please don't, please..." I pleaded. He just looked at me.

"And why shouldn't I?!" Steve asked pissed.

"Because I believe you now! I think John did something to Olivia." I admitted causing Steve to stop in his tracks.
