Percy POV

The battle between Percy and Luke was getting intense. It seemed to have been going on for ages, and it never seemed to end.

Percy had sweat dripping down his face, and Luke was panting like he had just finished a triathlon.

They stepped away from each other, and in that moment, Percy could hear someone calling his name.

"Percy!"

The pirate captain's head spun around to the sound of the voice, and saw his best friend, Grover, standing there.

When did he get here, Percy wondered, and are Rachel and Reyna here too?

Percy hadn't even blinked before Ethan Nakamura stepped up behind the enchilada lover and had a sword to his neck.

Percy spun around to face Luke, who was still regaining his steady breathing.

"Tell Ethan to let him go, Luke."

Luke raised an eyebrow. "Why would I do that, Percy? This fight between me and you clearly isn't going anywhere."

"He's not apart of this!" Percy yelled at Luke.

"He's here, he called your name, and he's definitely not fighting for me. Clearly, he's apart of this."

Percy turned back around and saw Grover attempting to escape Ethan's hold on him. Ethan didn't even flinch, just tightened his hold on Percy's friend.

Percy saw someone out  of the corner of his eye come running towards them and his breath caught.

Annabeth. Even in the middle of a fight, she still looked beautiful. Her eyes caught his and he could tell that she was assessing the situation, trying to find a way out of it.

Percy heard Luke walking towards him and turned to face his former friend.

The blonde-haired pirate raised his sword eye level.

"Percy, surrender."

"No!" Percy shouted, trying to think of a solution.

"You have to, or Ethan there will kill your friend."

Percy looked up at Annabeth, then Grover, then back at Annabeth once his brain had caught up to his eyes.

Annabeth was trying to catch his attention, and her eyes were sparkling like they did when she had a plan.

She looked at him and mouthed, 'stall him.'

Percy turned back towards Luke.

"I'll surrender," Percy said, "but first I have questions."

Luke lowered his sword and grinned evilly at Percy. "What questions?"

Percy looked fully at Luke, and decided not to be so obvious at first.

"What are you planning to do when I surrender? To the people and the kingdom."

"My plan? The plan is to make this whole place feel like they're cursed, just like I felt when I lived and trained here."

Percy cocked his head. "While I can appreciate some revenge, my mom always told me not to accept curses from evil pirate tyrants, you know?"

Luke blinked, and then snarled at Percy. "You never know when to give up, do you? You already said you surrendered!"

Percy shrugged. "I can change my mind, right?"

He glanced up at Annabeth again, who gestured for him to get Luke closer to her.
