Chapter 23

In the next couple weeks, the following happened:

Percy and Annabeth decided not to get married right away, but announce that they were definitely going to.

The war came to an uneasy truce.

Annabeth figured out a way that Percy could still be on the water.

"Are you sure?" The green-eyed pirate asked for the 10th time in an hour.

"Yes, Percy. I can stay here and work with the people and you can work on trade and negotiations with other kingdoms. That way you don't have to sit through the boring stuff that I know you hate."

Percy smiled gratefully. "I guess. But that means I'll be gone instead of helping you."

Annabeth smiled back. "I know. But I don't want you to get bitter."

Percy hugged her and when he pulled away he lightly kissed her on the nose. "You're the best."

"I know."

And that's when Will Solace and Nico di Angelo came in, Will's arm slung loosely around Nico's shoulders.

"Hey guys," the blonde boy said, "Percy, I wanted to talk to you about Poseidon's Treasure, and I know that you may not want to, but I really need to know what's gonna happen."

Percy's smile turned into a stiff one. "What do you mean, Will?"

Will opened his mouth to speak, but Nico clamped a hand around his boyfriends mouth. "He means are you still going to use it? If you do, people will know that you were the fearsome Captain Jackson. And Will's also worried that if you do stop using it for pirating reasons, does he need to find a job?"

Percy gave each of them a blank stare. "Well, people will probably figure it out anyway, and it's not like I didn't help them. But I definitely will still use her."

"And Will," Annabeth cut in, "If you need a job, you can work here and go with Percy when he's out. You too, Nico." She said, giving the shorter boy a look.

"Is that what most the other crew is doing?" Nico asked.

Annabeth shrugged. "I'm not sure. You're the only people who've brought it up so far. I bet they'll all want to stay in touch somehow, but I also know that some of them might want to go back to Trishula instead of staying here in Athens."

Percy nodded, wrapping an arm around his wise girl's waist as he did so. "It's really all up in the air."

Will and Nico nodded, and Will's arm fell from Nico's shoulders into his hand instead. As they turned to leave Will looked back over his shoulder.

"I'm still serious about being a flower girl at the wedding you know."

Annabeth laughed as Nico, once again, rolled his eyes at his significant annoyance. (A/N: I'm sorry. I had to.)

In the next couple weeks, Percy got a feel of Athens and how things were run. Athena continued to think he wasn't good enough for Annabeth, despite him literally saving her life multiple times. Annabeth caught up on everything she missed while she was gone, with the help of her friends. There was a lot of paperwork.

But all in all, everything was actually sort of peaceful. The war was at a truce, Annabeth was surrounded by her family and friends, and she was safe.

2 YEARS LATER

"Annabeth!" Piper called, running to the soon-to-be Queen's room. She reached the doorway out of breath, and was greeted by Hazel and Annabeth's glare.

"Stop stressing Annabeth out, Piper! Running down the hallways and screaming her name wont calm her down!" Hazel said, while turning back to Annabeth's hair.

Annabeth smiled, holding in a giggle at Hazel's expression. "What is it, Piper?"

"I just wanted to tell you that your mother said she was going to be late."

"Why?" Annabeth asked, confused.

Piper shrugged. "She didn't say."

Annabeth frowned but accepted the answer.

All of a sudden, Hazel started giggling. Annabeth met her eyes in the mirror. "Why are you laughing?"

"I just remembered when we had to disguise you as a pirate to get through the blockade two years ago."

"Oh yeah," Piper laughed. "What was your name again? Aaron something?"

Annabeth nodded, then stopped when she realized Hazel was still doing her hair. "I think it was Aaron Boldbrand. Hazel came up with it."

Hazel laughed. "Yeah, it was. Man, I just got deja vu while dressing you up. I can't believe we didn't even know you very well before that."

Piper nodded in the reflection, and with a final hair pin, Hazel pulled back. "It's time."

The wedding between Percy and Annabeth went almost exactly as planned. The only thing missing was Athena, but Annabeth decided that she couldn't care less if her mom was there. The people around her now were a better family than Athena ever was.

It started out beautifully and ended with a bang.

At the party after the ceremony, Percy walked up to Annabeth.

"Hello, Mrs. Jackson."

Annabeth grinned. "Hello, dear husband."

Percy slung an arm over her shoulders and grinned at her. They had the party at the docks where Annabeth was first kidnapped. It was where everything had began, after all.

Annabeth and her friends stayed there well into the night, and there was peace.
