The personality of her character was rude, arrogant, and sloppy. Hazel's goal was to make it opposite of a princess, and she did a wonderful job. Annabeth wasn't the least bit comfortable in her new role, but apparently, according to Piper and Hazel, she was a great actress.

Once Annabeth was confident that she had mastered the attitude, Piper looked at her. "I think this new character looks like a Aaron."

Annabeth looked over her outfit. She didn't know what she looked like as she hadn't seen a mirror yet, but she didn't think she looked like an Aaron.

"Are you sure, Piper?"

Hazel nodded before Piper could say anything. "Oh definitely. Aaron Boldbrand."

Piper and Annabeth looked at Hazel questioningly. "Where did you get Boldbrand from?"

Hazel shrugged. "I don't know what's in my head."

Annabeth laughed. "Fine. Aaron Boldbrand it is. Now, how did I meet you guys?"

Piper and Hazel considered this. "Well, we should probably keep as much to the truth as possible. The more truth is in a lie, the harder it is to find."

"Then why don't we just keep everything a truth except for that I'm the princess? It's believable. I get captured by pirates from my hometown, I meet Will in the prison of the ship I was captured on, and when Percy came to rescue his loyal medic, he picked up another crew member. Except, this obviously should be set years ago and not last week."

Piper nodded. "Yeah, that's it. We can tell the rest of the crew to say that you've been on our ship for 2 years."

Annabeth nodded. "Let's go then."

"I have one more thing to ask you, Annabeth. Then you can go." Hazel said.

Annabeth turned to her questioningly. "What is it?"

Hazel grinned. "Do you like Percy?"

"Uh... what?"

Piper caught on to where Hazel was going. "Remember when we sparred the other day?"

"Yeah, of course," Annabeth said.

"Do you like Percy?" Hazel repeated, and Annabeth put everything together. Her conversation with Piper when the captain was getting her a knife, all the long glances and special moments.

A thought came to Annabeth: Why did Percy take her to meet Reyna, Grover, and Rachel? Did she like Percy?

Annabeth shook her head. "No, I don't like Percy like you're thinking. He's a great person, definitely, and not like any other pirates I've met, but I definitely don't like Percy romantically."

Piper raised an eyebrow doubtfully. "Are you sure, Annabeth?"

Annabeth started to nod when Hazel added, "What's your favorite thing about him?"

"Well," Annabeth began, "I like how his hair is always messy, but just so it looks like he does it intentionally, I like his beautiful green eyes, and his lopsided grin is pretty cute too. But I mean, he's really loyal to you guys, I can tell, and he's-" Annabeth cut off all of a sudden and covered her mouth with both her hands.

Piper and Hazel were holding in a laugh. Annabeth slowly lowered her hands and looked at them with a coiling sense of dread.

"I can't like Percy, it won't work," Annabeth said.

Piper looked at her like she was crazy. "What are you talking about? Of course you can!"

Annabeth shook her head. "You don't understand. When I go home, I have to get married! And my mother definitely won't allow me to get married to a pirate. No matter how good and pure he is."
