The first person to walk towards Annabeth was a Cherokee looking girl with brown choppy hair and a feather braided into it.

"My name's Piper. Nice to meet you," she said with a friendly grin. Annabeth shook her hand and decided immediately that she liked Piper.

"I'm Annabeth."

A tall blonde with electric blue eyes that seemed a little too perfect walked behind Piper. "I'm Pipes's boyfriend. The name's Jason."

Annabeth nodded at him.

Percy looked around. "Where's everyone else?"

Jason said, "They're all watching Leo and Nico."

"What're they doing?"

Jason shrugged. "The usual."

Percy sighed and ran a hand through his already wind blown hair. He looked at Annabeth. "Come on. I'll introduce you to the rest of my crew."

"I'll follow you then." Annabeth stated.

Percy led her below deck to what looked like a game room. There were people gathered around a ping pong table. Two people were seated around it. One could pass as a latino elf, with brown curly hair, tan skin, and what looked like grease stains covering his clothes. He had what looked like a tool belt on. The other was a very pale italian. He had inky black dark hair that was all over the place and was very short. Annabeth looked at them again. They were both pretty short, she reasoned.

"No, Leo. It wasn't a funny joke." The Italian said.

Leo groaned. "It isn't fair. I'm hilarious! I just don't understand why you only smile when your boyfriend is around."

A dark skinned, golden eyed girl replied, "Because Nico really likes Will."

Annabeth figured that the now blushing Italian was Nico and the Latino elf was Leo.

"Hazell!" Nico groaned. Then he looked up and saw Annabeth and Percy in the doorway. "The captain has returned."

Everyone turned towards the doorway and they all crowded around Percy, asking him questions.

Percy put up his hands and everyone seemed to quiet down. "Everyone, this is Princess Annabeth. She's already met Will, Piper, and Jason. I expect you to treat her with respect."

Everyone nodded, then they started introducing themselves.

Nico walked up to her. "I'm Nico Di Angelo. You met my boyfriend, Will?"

Annabeth nodded. "Yeah. He's very bright and happy."

Nico nodded and crossed his arms. "That sounds like Sunshine." He turned out the door, presumably to find Will.

The dark skinned girl she found out to be Hazel, and her boyfriend was a buff guy named Frank. There was Leo, who introduced himself as 'super-sized mcshizzle bad boy supreme'.

Annabeth wasn't expecting a crew of teenagers her age, but here she was. Everyone seemed kind not pirate like at all. Pretty soon dinner was called, but Annabeth wasn't very hungry, despite not eating a proper meal in days. Everyone else left to go eat, or so Annabeth thought. A green eyed pirate was still there.

The pirate captain walked up behind her. "This still isn't what you were expecting?"

Annabeth didn't answer. The answer was obvious. "Why are people so afraid of you?" She asked suddenly. "You're just a group of dorky teenagers."

Percy folded his arms. "I wouldn't say we're dorky." Annabeth lightly glared at the captain and he sighed. "It all started when Luke and I had our first confrontation. We knew each other, but we had never fought head on before. The battle demolished half a town off Trishula."

Annabeth stared at him. "It was just you and Luke fighting?" She asked. When Percy nodded, she started at him. "That's a lot of power."

Percy shrugged, and Annabeth could tell he was uncomfortable.

"When did you become a pirate?" She asked, steering the conversation away from the awkwardness.

Percy looked at her, seeming grateful for the abrupt change. "Four years ago."

"How old are you?"

"18, how old are you?"

"Same here. Just old enough for my mother to get on me about marrying a random person I've never met in my life."

Percy had sympathy in his eyes, and Annabeth immediately regretted saying anything. She hated when people pitied her.

"I would hate having to marry someone I've never met. But I guess it's what started this all."

Annabeth immediately knew he was talking about the war. "Yeah."

Annabeth's great aunt had rejected the prince of Trishula, and their King was so offended that they started a war. It was a big deal rejecting their heir at the time, but Annabeth supposed that even though it was stupid, if it happened now it would have the same result.

"Do you have any siblings?" Percy asked suddenly.

Annabeth shook her head. "No, I'm an only child. My father died in the war when I was two."

Percy winced. "I'm sorry. And you're mother never remarried?"

"No again. She was so devastated at first. Now she's just cold and distant."

There was a brief pause, neither of them knowing what to say when Annabeth asked, "What about you? Any other family for you?"

Percy's eyes put a barrier down and he turned away. "Let's talk about something else."

Annabeth, though curious, decided to steer away from the topic. "How much do you know about the prince of Trishula?"

Percy looked up, an unfamiliar feeling in his eyes. "I know that he has a younger sister, a mother, and a father, but not much else."

"Have you ever met him?"

"Once. He was very clueless, so to speak."

"Oh," Annabeth said, somehow not surprised that Percy had just committed treason against a kingdom. "What was his name again?"

Percy shrugged. "I can't remember, I think it was something that started with an O? I might be wrong though, they're a very closed off family since the war."

Annabeth nodded, no one knew much about the royal family, and they had tried to send spies in to learn more, but nothing ever seemed to work.

"I'm still confused about this war thing. It was just a marriage! Can't we all just have peace?" Percy suddenly exclaimed.

Annabeth looked at him, a little surprised. "Well, when you think about it, if I did the same thing now, do you think a war wouldn't have happened?"

Percy ran his hands through his hair, a habit that Annabeth noticed he did a lot. "I don't know," Percy said, "Maybe the Trishula people now are wiser than they were before. I think this all could have been prevented."

Annabeth shrugged. "Well, no one knows what could have happened. All I really know is that if I can choose who I marry instead of it being forced on me like it is, I would be very happy."

Percy just nodded and looked out to the stars, but Annabeth couldn't help but remember the way his eyes looked when she asked about his family.

Who was he really?
