chapter 21: who knew hell could get hotter?

"What are you doing here?" I stiffened up and slowly turned as a figure in another cloak started walking up from behind a pillar.

"il hurt you if you don't give us our friends back," I said trying to sound firm.

"I'm sure you will try child." the figure said snarkily

"Now answer my question. What are you doing here." he said angrily

"We just told you. give us back our friend or elts." I said summoning fire into my hands.

"whoa now. you have a little temper. the ceremony fire is clearly ready." the cloaked figure said letting out a sigh of annoyance. 

concentrating I turned the fire in my hand into a blue flame. "now Let's all just cool down," he said slowly reaching inside his cloak. pulling out a metallic disc he threw it. As he did time slowed. controlling the air I stopped it from hitting the floor only for it to explode and send fragments of what looked to be ice flying toward us.

"That's enough!" I bellowed creating a wall of fire in front of us bursting into flames.

there was a searing sound and the man fell to his knees with his hands raised and said "ok I surrender."

just then the sounds of footsteps could be heard running down the hallway towards the room we were in.

"We have company," Ben said looking in the crack.

"hide, hide. they can't see you. not yet it's too early." the figure said waving his hands and pushing us to the side where the pillars were.

Just as we were behind the pillars the doors burst open. revealing 3 cult members in cloaks. but something was different. their robes seemed to be bedazzled with plastic Jules and beeds on them.

"We heard yelling. What's going on." said one of the figures

"Nothing. I thought I forgot the password and let my emotions go. I'm guessing you all started? I could feel my emotions heighten as I started walking down." the figure that saw us before said.

"of course we started you fool. we don't wait for people who think it ok to be late." said one of the other figures

"ya well I am," he said snarkely. In one fast motion, the figure closest to him slashed a knife he was holding across the face causing the cloak to reveal a red and blue mask with a slash across the front.

crying out the figure we met fell to the floor gripping his face.

"You lucky I didn't kill you. you will show respect to your higher-ups or others. do you understand!" yelled the figure that slashed him across the face.

"yes sir." muttered the hurt figure.

pulling him mulishly up, the higher-up screamed in his face "What was that?!"

"yes sir," said the red and blue masked figure.

in a voice that sounded fearful, he said "Now that I'm here we might as well get started." the figure must have caught him looking at the cloak cause he said

"The kid was where she wasn't supposed to be." said one of the figures waving toward the door. As the red and blue figure walked in he started closing the door. Then he looked in our direction and nodded as though to say 'Stay away'.

after about 5 minutes we came out from behind the pilers.

"why didn't he rat us out? What's going on?" Arron said confused mixed with worry written all over his face.

"I don't know but whoever he was he wasn't liked. maybe he's an Ally. the enemy of an enemy is my friend." I said

"it doesn't matter what he is. we're not here to make friends or know why he didn't rat us out. we're here to save our actual friend."
