As we got to the front door, Alex the guy I hit with the gun, put in the code while holding his crouch.
After trying the code a second time it opened and the boss was right in front watching us come in. When the doors closed 10 guards came out of nowhere and secured the door to the 50th degree and I guess took Mark to the infirmary with Alex limping behind. before the door closed Alex turned to look at me as the door closed. he looked pissed.
When they were done the boss walked up to me "Who are those people?" he asked sternly
"Oh those are..." I started to answer but was interrupted when the boss said "Ok I don't care. I just want to know why they are here?"
I didn't think about this. "We are his friends for moral support," Brianna said handing him a printed version of my resume. So many qualities
"hmmm looks good. But if it's OK with you they can't stay here. is that a deal breaker or can you do the job without them?" he asked looking at me with a clear level of annoyance plastered on his face.
"yep silly, me never paying attention. Except here. I will always pay attention here." I say jittery
the boss stared at me for a long while like he was looking me down and starting to regret hiring me. after what felt like an eternity of this he said
"come with me. your friends stay in the waiting room. As I leave il get them and tell them to leave. I'm sure you understand our precautions. We take security very seriously here" As I followed the boss Hanna ran up to me kissed me on the cheek and said
"you owe me" That made me blush as I wished it was on the lips like in the van. I will have to ask her out sometime before someone asks her out. Then the doors closed and the boss and I entered a hallway with glass on one side of the wall.
"I am so sorry sir. My friends came to support me and ... Wow"
As I looked into the factory I couldn't believe what I was seeing. All kinds of guns looked like they could be from the future, robots that look just like real humans except for the half-made face, and technology you would have never believed.
"Amazing isn't it," said the boss as I stared at the factory building.
"ya, it is" I responded snapping out of the hypnotic state that I was in.
" the description on the website said this was a security facility, not a full-on tech laboratory. why do you keep it a secret? I mean look at this you could change military weaponry, and have robots do jobs without having to pay. shot there's probably something down there for prosthetics or a cure for cancer." I blurt out
"Yes so that more thieves can come in and kill the security guard. Which is the whole reason we even opened this position up." Great job asking such a brilliant question me. I should just ask next why there are no flying unicorns.
"I'm so sorry sir I forgot, I have a lot on my mind and"
the boss interrupted me again "Could you imagine what thieves would do if they had my research? MASS CAOSE and if you don't remember well. What's to say you leave a door unlocked? Liston kid, I want to help with your money problem but if you make mistakes like that. I will have to drop you. Do you understand?"
"yes, sir I understand, and I...I...I promise you I'd rather die than let any thieves kill I mean steal. you know yes sir."
Just then the boss's phone buzzed to life and very abruptly he said "Good cause I have to leave now. Important business to attend to. Your shift ends at 9. Check around the perimeter and lock the door behind me, and when it's over go to the front desk to sign in and out"
"will do sir. You can count on me," I say awkwardly
As he was about to leave he grabbed me and said "I'm counting on you. Make this place secure and don't, I mean don't go to the third floor." he demanded fiercely
His eyes were like an eagle piercing gaze with precise control. I knew that if I messed up. Even once it would not be good for me.
When he fiercely grabbed my shoulder there was a mist that steamed up from where he put his hand on me. He then pulled his hand back and turned walking away.
So as he said before I followed him out to the lobby, from there I told the gang I'd talk to them after my shift.
Brianna was the last one to walk out and as she did she grabbed my hand and squeezed saying "Be safe, please. I don't want to have to see an empty seat tomorrow. Also you still owe me 20 bucks." with that, she was gone.
